The last few weeks have been a hectic ride for Golden State Warriors fans. Theyve seen some of the best basketball of Stephen Currys career, which is saying something considering hes the leagues only unanimous MVP.
Those performances havent necessarily translated to wins though. The Warriors are just 2-2 in their last four games, albeit they were able to go on a four-game win streak prior to that .500 stretch of games.

Seven of those eight games will be against opponents that are under .500. With the Dubs sitting at 30-30, they will have a real shot at getting to the No. 8 seed, currently sitting at No. 10. Theyd need a major collapse from Dallas to break into the top seven.
The play-in tournament will be in their future as long as they take care of business these last few weeks, and getting a top-eight seed will be ideal as theyd then have to lose twice to not make the actual playoffs.
With Curry as the scoring leader for the entire NBA, going on an impressive stretch of wins isnt out of the question. Hes been consistently hitting at least 30 points per game, and when that happens, the Warriors will almost always have a chance to win.
With Kelly Oubre Jr. finding his rhythm off the bench and Draymond Green stepping up on the offensive end of the court, the Warriors should be able to win at least six of their next eight and that should help them to get out of the tenth seed.

The Portland Trail Blazers have one more opportunity to secure a victory this preseason before things get real Wednesday against Sacramento at the Moda Center.
The Blazers play Friday night at Golden State in the final preseason game for both teams.
If the Blazers are to avoid going winless this preseason, they will have to do so without star guard Damian Lillard. He said following the teams 119-74 loss Wednesday at Phoenix that he likely wouldnt play on Friday and it turns out that he will not. He will take the night off to rest, according to the teams injury report.
I want to start getting ready for the regular season, Lillard said.
A victory Friday, or even a decent showing, is not imperative, according to Lillard. Instead, he would rather assure that he remains healthy and is fresh for the start of the regular season. One game, he said, wont matter much in the grand scheme of things given that he already feels comfortable with the new offense and defense under new coach Chauncey Billups.
At this point, its safe to say that there will likely be growing pains for the Blazers early on in the season as they continue to work out the kinks.

Curry won’t play in Tuesday’s preseason contest against the Lakers, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
Curry and Draymond Green will rest Tuesday, but they will both be available for the Warriors’ preseason finale against the Blazers on Friday. The Season Begins With Some Barometers
Remember last year, when we had exciting hopes for the Warriors, and they kicked off the season against the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, widely regarded as the two best teams in the East?
Those were barometer games. Wed get to see just how good the Warriors were.
Turns out not very good. While the Warriors would recover and play quality basketball by the end of the season, they lost those first two games by a combined 65 points, and it would be months before the sour taste of harsh reality was out of their mouths.
The Dubs kick things off with another set of barometer games this year. On Opening Night, they travel to SoCal to take on the LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and the Los Angeles Lakers, seen by most as favorites in the Western Conference.
Two days later the Warriors are at home hosting the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers will be without Kawhi Leonard, but are still one of the top teams in the West, with a two-way star in Paul George, a wildly deep lineup, and a top coach in Ty Lue.
The Warriors dont need to go 2-0 in these games, but we will learn a lot about how competitive the team is. Lets just hope they dont lose by 65.

Warriors’ Klay Thompson: Expected To Practice In November
Thompson is expected to be cleared to return to full-contract practices within a month, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The general expectation all along has been that Thompson would return to game action sometime around Christmas Day, but if he’s cleared for full contact by mid-November, that could set him on course for a slightly earlier return. Of course, Thompson has missed the last two full seasons with a pair of serious leg injuries, so the Warriors won’t rush him back until he’s 100 percent ready. Either way, this update has to be viewed through an encouraging lens for fantasy managers who’ve drafted Thompson to temporarily stash in an IR slot.
