Warriors’ Draymond Green: Won’t Play Tuesday
Green won’t play in Tuesday’s preseason contest against the Lakers, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
Green and Stephen Curry will both rest Tuesday, but they are both expected to play in the Warriors’ preseason finale against the Blazers on Friday. With Green sidelined, Otto Porter and Andre Iguodala will likely see increased minutes against the Lakers on Tuesday.
Klay Thompsons Injury Status Explored
It has been 859 days since Klay Thompson tore his ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.
Thompson missed the following season as he rehabbed the injury, but then ruptured his Achilles in a pick-up game prior to last season.
Since then, the Warriors have been out of the championship conversation.

Will Klay Thompson Be Part Of The Warriors Starting Five
Five-time All-Star Klay Thompson wont be part of the Warriors starting lineup at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.
Thompsons place in the starting five will belong to someone else until he is cleared to practice without restriction. He underwent surgery in November of 2020 on a torn Achilles, and had just recovered from a torn ACL that he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals. Thompson reportedly could be cleared for practice next month, setting him up for a highly-anticipated return in late December or early January.
For now, Thompson will be watching on the bench while third-year combo guard Poole takes his place.

The Warriors chose future superstar point guard Stephen Curry of Davidson College with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. During the 2009 off-season, Warrior ownership declined to renew the contract of general manager Chris Mullin. Larry Riley, Nelsons longtime assistant coach, was promoted in his place Riley drafted Curry and traded Jamal Crawford to the Atlanta Hawks for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton.
The Warriors had another injury-prone year in 200910 as they were consistently unable to field their ideal starting lineup. In November, a malcontented Stephen Jackson and seldom-used Acie Law were traded to the Charlotte Bobcats for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. Four days later, they signed center Chris Hunter. Starting in January 2010, they issued multiple 10-day contracts, most notably to power forward Anthony Tolliver from the Idaho Stampede. Due to their multiple injuries, they were granted an exception allowing them to sign Reggie Williams from the Sioux Falls Skyforce to a 10-day contract on March 2. They eventually waived the injured Bell to sign Williams for the rest of the year and finished the season 2656, failing to make the playoffs. Curry finished second in the NBA Rookie of the Year voting to the Sacramento KingsTyreke Evans and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Warriors’ James Wiseman: Full Clearance Weeks Away
The Warriors’ training staff has targeted Friday as the date Wiseman should be able to start jumping and working out at full speed, and a “full clearance” is expected in the next couple weeks, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
While it sounds like Wiseman could get back into games as soon as early November, there’s also the possibility, Slater reports, that the center could spend time in the G League in closed-door scrimmages or possibly full games. It doesn’t seem too likely the center would spend a significant chunk of time in Santa Cruz, however. For as much as he struggled as a rookie, especially given his draft pedigree, Wiseman certainly figures to be a useful rotation player for the Warriors this season in some capacity. Ultimately, it seems like he’ll often spend time with the bench unit this season, where he can better demonstrate his upside, and his mistakes aren’t as harmful. Notably, Golden State brought in a new assistant coach, Dejan Milojevic, who is doing a lot of work to develop Wiseman into a more well-rounded player. Milojevic was a head coach in Serbia where his Mega Basket program helped produce the likes of Nikola Jokic, Ivica Zubac and Boban Marjanovic.
Golden State Warriors Without Klay Thompson This Season
The Golden State Warriors are not what they used to be before Klay’s injury. They desperately miss their all-action guard on the floor and his absence has reduced the team to a .500 record.
The main effect was felt by two-time MVP and his splash brother Stephen Curry. Without Thompson to come off screens, there is evidently no other shooting threat from beyond the arc, which gives defenders liberty to crowd Curry.
Stephen Curry can no longer get the easy looks he used to because there isn’t another sharpshooter in the backcourt to occupy defenders. Although Curry’s greatness in marksmanship has led him to break several records this season, it is often not enough to get the team a victory.
ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith said:
“The Warriors will make the league pay when Klay Thompson returns.”
The sentiment is shared by several other analysts and fans. As they look at whatever limited success the Golden State Warriors have had, people are convinced the team will be right back into title contention once Thompson gets back.

Warriors Andrew Wiggins: Might Not Play Friday
Wiggins didnt practice Thursday due to nicks and bruises and may not play Friday against the Lakers, Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.
Wiggins was recently vaccinated, which is the more important recent news for the starting wing. Still, if hes out Friday, more minutes will be available for the teams young bench options.

Plenty of known talent in dynasty players like Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Steph Curry will meet rising stars like Jordan Poole in the Warriors push to bring another championship home this season.

The Golden State Warriors look to finally make it to the playoffs this year after two years of striking out. Theyve dealt with injuries to their superstars and just sheer bad luck over the past two seasons. This year, theyre more than ready to finally make noise in the league again especially after putting the NBA on notice with a 5-0 preseason winning streak.
However, the Warriors will still have plenty of questions to answer before they can go back to the mountain top of the NBA. They no longer have one of if not the best lineups of all time and have to continue to build around Stephen Curry now. The pressure is on the management to make the most out of Currys prime and theyre doing that by investing in their rookies and signing competent role players by his side.

Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins: Ruled Out Friday
Wiggins won’t play in Friday’s preseason contest against the Lakers, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
Wiggins didn’t practice Thursday, so his status for Friday’s game is no surprise. The 26-year-old forward’s absence will allow some of the Warriors’ younger players to get extended run against the Lakers.

You can never read too much in the preseason games, but if you paid attention to the Lakers, you could tell that theyre going through some growing pains which is understandable given the number of new players in the lineup. The Warriors will be looking forward to returning to the playoffs and theyll surely get there if Thompson is able to play a full season, but just like the Lakers, I dont think theyll hit their stride until after the All-Star break. There are so many uncertainties at this early stage of the season, so Im leaning towards the Warriors to take advantage of a new-look Lakers lineup still trying to work out their rotations.

Due of the loss of key players such as Barry, Wilkes and Thurmond to trades and retirements, the Warriors struggled to put a competitive team on the court from 1978 to 1987 after being one of the NBAs dominant teams in the 1960s and most of the 1970s. Through the NBA draft, however, they acquired some players such as high-scoring forward Purvis Short , former Purdue center Joe Barry Carroll and center Robert Parish , who was traded to the Boston Celtics in 1980 along with the draft pick that would become Kevin McHale for the pick used to draft Carroll. In 1983, the Warriors matched the New York Knicks offer for free-agent Bernard King, but, unable to pay his high salary, quickly traded him to the Knicks for guard Micheal Ray Richardson, whom they soon shipped to New Jersey in exchange for former Georgetown Hoya point guard Eric Sleepy Floyd, and journeyman forward Mickey Johnson. Floyd once scored 29 points for the Warriors in the fourth quarter of a playoff game against the Lakers, though he was later traded to the Houston Rockets.

Tips To Get To The Games
The best way to get to the game is to take public transportation. Muni has a station right across the street from the Chase Center, making it an easy walk from there. The stop is UCSF/Chase Center and is serviced by the T line. You can pick up the T anywhere along Market. You can also pick it up along the Embarcadero at all stops south of Market Street .
In addition to the Muni light rail line, there will also be shuttles taking people from downtown BART Stations. There will also be a game and concert only ferry service that runs from Larkspur, Oakland, and Alameda to Mission Bay .

Warriors’ Jordan Poole: Another Strong Performance
Poole recorded 18 points , five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Tuesday’s 111-99 preseason win over the Lakers.
Poole has shown all preseason that he’s on the cusp of taking the next step in his NBA career. While his usage figures to decrease in the regular season, it appears he’s going to be one of the Warriors’ key rotation players all year, and especially before Klay Thompson returns.
Warriors Hopeful For Season
While the Warriors have long been waiting for Thompsons return and still stinging after two straight seasons falling short of the playoffs Charania noted that there are some high hopes due to the play of Jordan Poole
But for him to be cleared for full practice over the next month, that is optimistic news. And then you have him back in the lineup, Charania said of Thompsons return. Jordan Poole has been playing amazing basketball so far in the preseason, so there is hope for this Warriors season.
Poole split time between Golden State and the teams G League affiliate in Santa Cruz last season, but came on strong in the second half of the year, becoming a top scoring threat off the bench and starting for Steph Curry while he was out with a tailbone injury.
Poole has picked up right where he left off this preseason, averaging 23.3 points per game while hitting 40% of his three-pointers. Bleacher Reports Andy Bailey noted that Poole who is expected to start on the wing until Thompson is ready to return is likely the leagues best player this preseason.
They dont give out a preseason MVP. If they did, its hard to imagine many people caring, he wrote. But Poole would be at or near the top of a make-believe MVP ladder right now. And after what they saw during Pooles first season, the continuation of his upward trajectory should have Golden State fans feeling giddy.
