Are Golden Goose Worth The Splurge
Ahhh Golden Goose Sneakers. Theyre one of the most highly-debated items when it comes to fashion, and especially shoes. Whats funny about them is they are obviously designer, but other designer items dont get quite as many opinions. I think it has to do with the fact that they are sneakers, and on top of that, most of their designs are worn in or scuffed up making the thought of spending 4, 5, 6 hundred dollars on them hard to justify for some. Which I get! Believe me.
I actually wasnt always the biggest fan of them, or at least wasnt sure I needed them in my own closet. It took me quite some time to warm up to them because I thought they might be too trendy. They also seemed very loud and out there, style-wise, that I just didnt feel would help justify the price since I tend to stick with neutral colors. But, they do have some neutral options, which I later discovered and thats when things started to shift.
As youve probably noticed from looks like this and this, Ive come around. In fact, I now LOVE me some Golden Goose. Thats not to say I dont stop and think about it before purchasing a pair, but when it comes to them being worth it, I know my answer. Since they are such a hot topic in the shoe world, I thought it would be a fun/interesting question to answer:

Wearing Golden Goose Slide Sneakers In The Summer
There is no doubt that I am a huge fan of Golden Goose Deluxe Brand , but the slides are a different beast entirely to their low top cousins. In my latest post, I decided to wear them with one of my typical summer looks! Read on for more information.
Golden Goose Slide Sneakers are a stunning shoe, quite a lot different from their best selling Superstar Low tops, unfortunately, you rarely see anyone wearing them . Generally, it would be best to wear them with a typical street look such as skinny jeans, owing to their high top design. As we are in the middle of summer shorts are mostly a necessity during the daytime to ensure you can keep somewhat cool and fresh, because of this I was unsure how well my Goose slides would work, even so, I decided to give it a go!
I began my outfit with an oversized, linen style cream T-Shirt from ASOS , which I felt was different to my typical looks with its draping floaty appearance. I dug out my grey Topman skinny denim jeans which paired flawlessly as the grey was of a warmer tone. I was in two minds as to what sneakers to wear with the outfit, but Lorna suggested my new Goose slides as they are an olive-brown colour, after placing them next to the rest of my outfit we decided it was the best option. Once the ensemble was pieced together and worn, I felt it was different yet a good look for me! .

Golden Goose Sneaker Brand Identifiers
Italian craftsmanship is central to the Golden Goose brand, so all sneakers should be marked Made in Italy. Look carefully at the tags on the tongue of the shoe. Many say GGDB Made In Italy Size ___ some have a perforated GGDB, and you may see other variations as well, but according to Finch the printing on the tag should be bold with consistent fonts. Another place to pay attention to the fonts is on the counter, or outer heel of the shoe, where the brand logo should be neatly debossed with a slight arch. When authenticating, the font to watch out for is the traditional arched logo stamp on the exterior counters. This font will be serifed and have an arch. Again, this stamp will vary depending on the style, but styles with the traditional stamp are most counterfeited.
The insoles for Golden Goose sneakers are also quite consistent. Each will be stamped with black ink in a bold, sans-serif font, notes Finch. The stamp should include the style name of the sneaker, brand logo, a registered mark, and country of origin. The insoles should also be blind stamped with the European size and Genuine Leather in a serifed font. Also keep an eye out for a perforated GG and DB near the toe and notches on the edge towards the instep.

Why I Say But
It depends on your budget, obviously. For some, the price tag will simply not be worth it, if things like bills, rent, or other necessities need to come first.
It depends on how much wear youll get out of them. Like I suggest doing with ALL investment purchases, really ask yourself if you would get a good cost per wear out of them. If youre a sneakers girl, youll probably have a lot more wears out of a pair of sneakers and therefore they might be worth it for you. If you rarely wear sneakers, they might not be the smartest investment for you.
There are a lot of more budget-friendly options out there that resemble the original Golden Goose sneaker. In fact, I wrote an entire post on Statement Sneakers At All Price Points. Youll see in that post that you dont need to spend Golden Goose money on a similar look if you dont want to. HOWEVER, dont just buy dupes if theyre just going to sit on your shoe shelf. If theyre not your style, just bypass it all together to eliminate waste and needless donations down the road! Just because its trendy doesnt mean you need to hop on the train!
If youre in the market for a pair now, I recommend taking a look at Net-a-Porter and Farfetch. I find that they have the widest variety and carries quite a bit in regard to inventory. SSense is another great retailer to find Golden Goose on aside from the usual Shopbop and Nordstrom.

Metallic gold or silverleatherThese are a great choice because they are seasonless. I have a pair with gold stars and they are probably my most-worn. Wearing a dress? Check. Black jeans? Check. Blue jeans? Check. If you want bang for your buck- this is the way to go! Plus the leather will hold up to spills and rainy bus duty days! Try these!
Plain classic white This is a great choice since they look fancy with any outfit. Take a look here! Theres something about a crisp, white sneaker that really adds polish to any outfit.
Tan with black stars I recently got a pair like this and my heart does a little dance every time I wear them. Most of my wardrobe is based on neutrals and the contrasts of this pair are just everything. Remember to be mindful of the material of the sneakers though! Some Golden Goose have canvas or even suede so Im careful with those on bad weather days!

Golden Goose Sneaker Sizing
One of the most asked question I have regarding any of my Golden Goose sneakers are, “do Golden Goose sneakers run true to size?” or “how to Golden Goose sneakers fit?” The answer is true to size. I’m a small US 8.5. I wear a 38 in both the PURESTARS and Superstars. Since Golden Goose sneakers only come in whole sizes, I opted to size down since I typically don’t wear socks with them, and keep them loosely tied. However, if you’re between sizes and wear no-show socks or tend to size up in sneakers, then I would size up! To play it safe you can always order both sizes and send back the one that doesn’t fit best. After you know your Golden Goose sneakers size, they are all consistent between styles.
Golden Goose Sneaker Construction
When authenticating Golden Goose sneakers, I ensure the stitching is consistent and clean. Counterfeits often neglect detailed stitching near the toe and counters, Finch warns. Every pair has a raw, unfinished interior, Purestar included. There should be no visible glue residue. Pay particular attention to the stitching and construction of the iconic star. The top point of the star should not be visible and the tips of the star should never be lifting always make sure the star is stitched down to the edge.
The special wedge insoles also deserve a look when inspecting for authenticity. The insoles should be constructed from a single molded piece with angular insets. To attempt to create the same shape, counterfeiters often fuse pieces together with clear, heavy glue that can leave a residue, so be on the lookout for that.

A Casual Way To Wear Golden Goose Sneakers
So many of you have been asking to see more casual outfits worn with Golden Goose Sneakers after I wrote this post. Honestly, I don’t think about them differently than I do my other shoes. Meaning I don’t plan my outfits around them. I think that’s what makes them look so effortlessly chic while wearing. Once I’m dressed, I just decide if I want to wear sandals, loafers, or sneakers. Most of the time, since I’m always looking for comfort, I’ll choose my GGDB also known as Golden Goose Sneakers. I’ve styled them with casual dresses, jeans & t-shirts, sweaters, athleisure outfits, you name it – they go with everything.
In case you aren’t super familiar with the brand, Golden Goose sneakers are on the pricier side. But they are totally worth it . For sizing reference I’m normally an 8.5 and wear a size 38. They fit perfectly. I have worn these sneakers all day and don’t have any issues with them being uncomfortable or giving me blisters. I prefer to wear them without socks, but this pair of no-show socks work well with most Golden Goose sneakers. I have found that SSENSE has the best selection as well as Farfetch and mytheresa.com. Other retailers I have found them at are Nordstrom, Shopbop, and Revolve, but they don’t stay in stock very long on those sites. Let me know if you have a pair of Golden Goose sneakers and how you like to wear them!
Dressing The Older Gentleman
The great thing about sneakers is that they arent just the most democratic item that fits anyones wardrobe, but they also appeal to all ages. But, unless youre a professional athlete , neon-flecked kicks with Day-Glo laces arent exactly appropriate for men of a certain age.
Instead, consider something more elegant like a pair of Mertons to add a je ne sais quoi to a working outfit, or consider the GAT seriess sporty look for casual walks or everyday driving. Of course, classic Low 1 Golden Goose alternatives, particularly those in white, are perfect for sprucing up smart casual outfits that you can wear to cocktail soirees or weekend brunches with friends.

How To Style Golden Goose Sneakers 3 Ways
About a year ago I bought my first pair of Golden Goose sneakers after lusting after them for two years. They are quite an investment and I knew I wouldnt feel comfortable spendy a pretty penny on something I wouldnt wear often.
Cost per wear is my mantra.
I wrote a previous blog post where I went over my thoughts about the Golden Goose sneakers in detail. Are they worth the price tag or not? Well, they definitely are. As a girly girl and lover of feminine styles, I never thought I would get so much wear out of a pair of distressed sneakers.
It just goes to show that whether you consider yourself a lover of pink and frilly things or you typically don sporty casual looks you can wear sneakers. If youve been considering splurging on the Golden Goose sneakers and need outfit inspiration, Ive styled 3 different outfits to help you take these shoes from day to night.
You can wear them with jeans and a simple sweater, a leather skirt, or even a dress.
Get Over Making Fun Of The Distressed Sneaker Trend Its Here To Stay
People said the same thing about ripped up denim, Who would wear holey jeans or purposely ripped up denim? The naysayers were out there and people continued buying. Today it has become a consistent part of the denim closet. Both guys and girls have become accustomed to these new design trends. The same moment has arrived for sneakers.
Golden Goose Deluxe Brand recognized there was something they could do within the sneaker market to bring something unique to the table. This specific trait has already been done within the fashion apparel world, but not within the footwear market. Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandra Gallo started with an idea and are now running with it. With actual tape wrapping around particular models and the now iconic three-star logo everywhere, Golden Goose has quickly become a well-recognized brand.

Golden Goose Sneaker Review & How I Tie The Laces
This dedicated Golden Goose post is long overdue as many of you know how much I love my Golden Goose sneakers and just how often I wear them. Theyre my absolute favorite shoes EVER. I even bought my husband, Mark, a pair of Golden Goose for his birthday so in case you didnt know, Golden Goose has sneakers for men too! By no means are they an affordable everyday purchase with most ranging between $380 to upwards of $500, but they are worth every penny in my opinion. Ill share why I love them so much and a quick & easy video tutorial on how I tie the laces as Ive had a few who were curious about that.
Pros To Golden Goose Sneakers
- Limited quantities of each style. Why do I consider this a pro? The brand releases new styles each month and they go real quick! When I am paying this much for anything, I dont want to the exact color/style on 10 of my friends. Each pair feels unique and special, almost limited edition.
- Already dirty. This baffles Jeff, like why am I paying for dirty looking shoes? As a kid, my mom would buy me bright white Keds and I would immediately go in the dirt to get them dirty or take a pen and draw on them. This made her so mad, clearly. Ive never liked the look of bright white shoes, now I just pay a lot of money for this look. Haha. I mean your shoes are always going to get dirty eventually, Golden Goose just speeds up the process.
- Comfortable! I get this question a lot. Yes, they are super comfortable!
- No shoe is identical. This goes back to what I was saying on limited quantities. Each pair is handmade and hand distressed. One of a kind, pretty cool right?
- Cost per wear. The number question asked is are they worth the money?. I cant answer that for you. Totally a personal choice. However, look at all the shoes in your closet. Do you wear them a lot? I went through mine and found several pair of sneakers Ive spent $80-$150 on that I wore maybe 3 or 4 times. Yet, I wear my all of my GGDB sneakers ALL THE TIME! Like I said, cost per wear!
- They look just as cool with dresses and skirts as they do with jeans and loungewear.
