When Do The Golden State Warriors Play

Don't Miss

Will Klay Thompson Be Part Of The Warriors Starting Five

Golden State Warriors Best Play From Every Game | 2020-21 NBA Season

Five-time All-Star Klay Thompson wont be part of the Warriors starting lineup at the beginning of the 2021-22 season.

Thompsons place in the starting five will belong to someone else until he is cleared to practice without restriction. He underwent surgery in November of 2020 on a torn Achilles, and had just recovered from a torn ACL that he suffered in the 2019 NBA Finals. Thompson reportedly could be cleared for practice next month, setting him up for a highly-anticipated return in late December or early January.

For now, Thompson will be watching on the bench while third-year combo guard Poole takes his place.

Warriors’ Damion Lee: Scores 16 Points Tuesday

Lee posted 16 points , nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes during Tuesday’s preseason win over the Lakers.

In Lee’s four preseason appearances, he’s averaged 9.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.8 minutes, though he’s shot just 10.0 percent from distance. He’ll be battling for reserve backcourt minutes throughout the season.

In Order To Attend A Golden State Warriors Game This Upcoming Season Fans Are Going To Have To Show Proof Of Covid

This is a good move from Golden State. Below outlines how NBA.com worded the release of the news.

The Golden State Warriors and Chase Center announced updated details today regarding the venues entry requirements, as mandated by the City and County of San Francisco Department of Public Health order issued on August 12, 2021. The order, as clarified by the City and County of San Francisco on September 10, states that fans ages 12 and older are required to show proof of full vaccination to enter the venue for events with more than 1,000 attendees, regardless of any extenuating circumstances, NBA.com wrote.

This is going to be a bit different than just bringing a vaccination card though.

With fake cards being on the rise as well, its smart to go a different, more secure route. Per SFist, the Warriors are encouraging everyone over 18 to use the CLEAR Health Pass app to easily and securely show their proof of vaccination.

While the fans are going to have to be vaccinated, theres no mandate for the players, and it doesnt look like thats anywhere on the horizon. Itll be interesting how the NBA tackles that as the issue continues to loom large over sporting teams throughout all different leagues.

The Warriors preseason kicks off on October 4, but that game will be held at the Moda Center against the Blazers. Their first setting with over 1,000 fans at the Chase Center will be on October 6 against the Denver Nuggets.

A Period Of Struggles

Comparisons? Golden State Warriors Are Playing a Different ...

Due of the loss of key players such as Barry, Wilkes and Thurmond to trades and retirements, the Warriors struggled to put a competitive team on the court from 1978 to 1987 after being one of the NBA’s dominant teams in the 1960s and most of the 1970s. Through the NBA draft, however, they acquired some players such as high-scoring forward Purvis Short , former Purdue center Joe Barry Carroll and center Robert Parish , who was traded to the Boston Celtics in 1980 along with the draft pick that would become Kevin McHale for the pick used to draft Carroll. In 1983, the Warriors matched the New York Knicks’ offer for free-agent Bernard King, but, unable to pay his high salary, quickly traded him to the Knicks for guard Micheal Ray Richardson, whom they soon shipped to New Jersey in exchange for former Georgetown Hoya point guard Eric “Sleepy” Floyd, and journeyman forward Mickey Johnson. Floyd once scored 29 points for the Warriors in the fourth quarter of a playoff game against the Lakers, though he was later traded to the Houston Rockets.

Warriors’ James Wiseman: Full Clearance Weeks Away

The Warriors’ training staff has targeted Friday as the date Wiseman should be able to start jumping and working out at full speed, and a “full clearance” is expected in the next couple weeks, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.

While it sounds like Wiseman could get back into games as soon as early November, there’s also the possibility, Slater reports, that the center could spend time in the G League in closed-door scrimmages or possibly full games. It doesn’t seem too likely the center would spend a significant chunk of time in Santa Cruz, however. For as much as he struggled as a rookie, especially given his draft pedigree, Wiseman certainly figures to be a useful rotation player for the Warriors this season in some capacity. Ultimately, it seems like he’ll often spend time with the bench unit this season, where he can better demonstrate his upside, and his mistakes aren’t as harmful. Notably, Golden State brought in a new assistant coach, Dejan Milojevic, who is doing a lot of work to develop Wiseman into a more well-rounded player. Milojevic was a head coach in Serbia where his Mega Basket program helped produce the likes of Nikola Jokic, Ivica Zubac and Boban Marjanovic.

Curry will be the center of the Dubs offense once again this season. Golden States superstar led the NBA in scoring last season, averaging 32.0 points per game with a league-high 337 3-pointers.

The Warriors dont have much depth in the backcourt should Curry need rest. Damion Lee and 2021 first-round pick Moses Moody are listed behind Curry on the depth chart.Hopefully, the Warriors more balanced roster thanks to the addition of veteran free agents Otto Porter Jr. and Nemanja Bjelica, and bringing back Andre Iguodala will take some pressure off the two-time NBA MVP.

Warriors’ Quinndary Weatherspoon: Links Up With Golden State

Weatherspoon signed a contract with the Warriors on Monday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Golden State’s press release doesn’t specify the terms of Weatherspoon’s deal, but he’s presumably joining the club on an Exhibit 10 contract, which would allow the Warriors to retain his G League rights in the likely event he’s waived before the start of the regular season. While playing under two-way deals for the Spurs in both of the past two seasons, Weatherspoon appeared in 31 games and averaged 1.9 points in 6.4 minutes per contest.

About The Golden State Warriors Basketball Team

The Golden State Warriors are a National Basketball Association team that plays its home games at the Chase Center in San Franciso, CA. The Warriors moved into the Chase Center at the beginning of the 2019-20 basketball season after previously playing at the Oracle Arena, which has since changed its name to the Oakland Arena. The move took the teams home from Oakland to San Francisco. Golden State finished the 2019-20 season with a 15-50 record and was 1 of 8 NBA teams that were not invited to Orlando to play in the NBA playoffs. Injuries to both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, along with the loss of Kevin Durant kept the team’s on-court talent very low and was the main reason for the poor record. If there was any sort of a silver lining in all of this, it was because the Warriors finished with such a poor record, they were able to secure the number 2 spot in the 2020 NBA draft which they used to draft James Wiseman.

You can never read too much in the preseason games, but if you paid attention to the Lakers, you could tell that theyre going through some growing pains which is understandable given the number of new players in the lineup. The Warriors will be looking forward to returning to the playoffs and theyll surely get there if Thompson is able to play a full season, but just like the Lakers, I dont think theyll hit their stride until after the All-Star break. There are so many uncertainties at this early stage of the season, so Im leaning towards the Warriors to take advantage of a new-look Lakers lineup still trying to work out their rotations.

20092012: Continued struggles and good draft choices

The Warriors chose future superstar point guard Stephen Curry of Davidson College with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft. During the 2009 off-season, Warrior ownership declined to renew the contract of general manager Chris Mullin. Larry Riley, Nelson’s longtime assistant coach, was promoted in his place Riley drafted Curry and traded Jamal Crawford to the Atlanta Hawks for Acie Law and Speedy Claxton.

The Warriors had another injury-prone year in 200910 as they were consistently unable to field their ideal starting lineup. In November, a malcontented Stephen Jackson and seldom-used Acie Law were traded to the Charlotte Bobcats for Raja Bell and Vladimir Radmanovic. Four days later, they signed center Chris Hunter. Starting in January 2010, they issued multiple 10-day contracts, most notably to power forward Anthony Tolliver from the Idaho Stampede. Due to their multiple injuries, they were granted an exception allowing them to sign Reggie Williams from the Sioux Falls Skyforce to a 10-day contract on March 2. They eventually waived the injured Bell to sign Williams for the rest of the year and finished the season 2656, failing to make the playoffs. Curry finished second in the NBA Rookie of the Year voting to the Sacramento KingsTyreke Evans and was named to the NBA All-Rookie First Team.

Can Andrew Wiggins Start For The Warriors

Wiggins will be a starter after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine that allows him to participate in all of the Warriors games.

After initial hesitation of the mandated vaccine, Wiggins faced the possibility of being ineligible to play in all home games at Chase Center throughout the season due to San Franciscos health and safety protocols.

Coach Steve Kerr recently confirmed Wiggins was vaccinated and can now be available for all games.

What Will Be The Starting Lineup For The Warriors

At the beginning of the 2021-22 NBA season, the Warriors most likely will send Steph Curry, Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, Kevon Looney, and Jordan Poole onto the court as their starting five.

Curry and Poole will handle the backcourt, with Wiggins at small forward, Green at power forward and Looney at center.

Center James Wiseman wont be part of the Warriors lineup as he continues to rehab a meniscus injury that has kept him out since last April.

Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins: Might Not Play Friday

Wiggins didn’t practice Thursday due to “nicks and bruises” and may not play Friday against the Lakers, Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.

Wiggins was recently vaccinated, which is the more important recent news for the starting wing. Still, if he’s out Friday, more minutes will be available for the team’s young bench options.

The Season Begins With Some Barometers

Warriors survive at home, live to play Game 6

Remember last year, when we had exciting hopes for the Warriors, and they kicked off the season against the Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks, widely regarded as the two best teams in the East?

Those were barometer games. Wed get to see just how good the Warriors were.

Turns out not very good. While the Warriors would recover and play quality basketball by the end of the season, they lost those first two games by a combined 65 points, and it would be months before the sour taste of harsh reality was out of their mouths.

The Dubs kick things off with another set of barometer games this year. On Opening Night, they travel to SoCal to take on the LeBron James, Anthony Davis, Russell Westbrook, and the Los Angeles Lakers, seen by most as favorites in the Western Conference.

Two days later the Warriors are at home hosting the Los Angeles Clippers. The Clippers will be without Kawhi Leonard, but are still one of the top teams in the West, with a two-way star in Paul George, a wildly deep lineup, and a top coach in Ty Lue.

The Warriors dont need to go 2-0 in these games, but we will learn a lot about how competitive the team is. Lets just hope they dont lose by 65.
