This year, Golden Globe awards presenters will be Awkwafina, Cynthia Erivo, Annie Mumolo, Joaquin Phoenix, Kristen Wiig, Renee Zellweger, Bryce Dallas Howard, Christopher Meloni, Rosie Perez, Christian Slater, Anthony Anderson, Tiffany Haddish, Kate Hudson, Margot Robbie and Kenan Thompson.
Nominees are expected to appear from various locations around the world though it remains to be seen if they will be gathered at central locations in other major cities.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association put a slight pause on this years Golden Globes the booziest baller of the awards-show season and moved them to Feb. 28 from their usual early January slot due to the coronavirus pandemic.
And the Beverly Hilton wont be the sole home for the normally glitzy gathering it will instead be a bicoastal gala for the first time ever.
But the 78th annual ceremony will still tip a hat to triumphs on film top contenders include Vanessa Kirbys subtle, tortured part in Pieces of a Woman and Chadwick Bosemans posthumous nod for his final role in Ma Raineys Black Bottom as well as television. Whos Hosting The Show
Beloved comedy duo Tina Fey and Amy Poehler will cohost the awards show for the fourth time, and it comes as little surprise given the rave reviews theyve received for the trio of shows they emceed between 2013 and 2015. In 2016, the Sisters costars passed the mic back to comedian Ricky Gervais, followed by Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, Andy Samberg and Sandra Oh, then Gervais again last year.
However, given social-distancing measures, theyll be video calling in from far-flung locales. Fey will appear from the Rainbow Room in New York City, while Poehler will appear from the Globes usual haunt, the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills.
A Times investigation finds that the nonprofit HFPA regularly issues substantial payments to its members in ways that some experts say could skirt IRS guidelines.

These are awards handed out by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association on a yearly basis since 1944. Unlike the Emmy Awards or Academy Awards, the HFPA recognizes film and television, and tends to have a more international outlook. The coronavirus pandemic not only closed movie theatres and prompted studios to shift dozens of releases into late 2021 or 2022, it also led to the postponement of awards shows and turned them into socially distanced affairs.
The Oscars don’t take place until 25 April, but organizers have said it will be an in-person show from multiple locations O’Neill said virtual shows and webcams have given audiences an intimate glimpse into the lives and homes of celebrities.
“It has taken us deeper into what we always wanted: an unscripted reality show with superstars,” he said.

So Are The Golden Globes 2022 Still Happening
Yes, but not in the format that weve become accustomed to. On October 11, a source confirmed to Variety that the HFPA plans to recognize the performances of 2021 to celebrate the great work of the industry this past year at the 79th annual Golden Globes, though how exactly that will be done is yet to be determined. Whatever happens, its unlikely that Hollywood heavyweights would want to be involved in any capacity, whether as hosts, presenters, or attendees.

Also different this time around is the controversy swirling around organizer the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, which has come under fire for its lack of diversity in its membership and recent media reports about its perks and practices. The HFPA has said it will address the diversity issue during Sundays show, but its likely Fey and Poehler or maybe even presenters and winners might weigh in on the issue.
Tonights ceremony will eventually unveil winners in 14 film and 11 TV categories, in addition to honoring Jane Fonda with the annual Cecil B. DeMille Award and Norman Lear with the Carol Burnett Award. Netflix dominated the nominations with 42 going into the night, with Mank and The Crown scoring the most noms overall with six apiece.

So Lets Talk About Our Hfpa Investigation
As outlined in The Times investigation, the HFPA is facing renewed scrutiny over its 87-person membership and fresh allegations of self-dealing and ethical lapses. Our report found that the organization has no Black members, which partially explains the puzzling nominations each year and the oversights in this years crop of nominees.
The 2021 nominees excluded this years Black-led potential Oscar best-picture contenders, including Da 5 Bloods, Judas and the Black Messiah and Ma Raineys Black Bottom. And thats even with Da 5 Bloods director Spike Lees two children being named Golden Globe Ambassadors. Awk-ward.
The organization said the perception that many members are not serious journalists is outdated and unfair and that it is committed to addressing the lack of Black members.
Asked about those criticisms, a representative for the HFPA said: We do not control the individual votes of our members, adding, We seek to build cultural understanding through film and TV and recognize how the power of creative storytelling can educate people around the world to issues of race, representation and orientation.
The investigation analyzes how and explains why the groups role in awards season is so big hint: money and how that came to be. It also sheds light on how one lavish TV show in particular, Emily in Paris, was regaled with so much love.

Who Are The Nominees
The ceremony doles out awards in film and television categories and some music awards too. The top film nominees this year are The Father, Mank, Nomadland, Promising Young Woman, Trial of the Chicago 7″ and Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, which each received multiple nominations.
In television, favorites such as Schitts Creek, The Crown and Ozark earned multiple nods. Newcomers The Queens Gambit, Ted Lasso, Small Axe and Emily in Paris fared well too. In the surprises column, Netflixs Bridgerton and Never Have I Ever, and HBOs I May Destroy You were shut out.

With the Golden Globes beginning in just a few hours, 2021’s delayed awards season officially in full swing. The show, which was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is now set to take place live this Sunday, Feb. 28, with hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler. On Tuesday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association confirmed to ET that the pair will host the show from opposite coasts — with Fey at the Rainbow Room in Manhattan and Poehler at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

It’s been a difficult year for theatrical releases during the pandemic with many theaters closed across the country for 11 months. This explains how streaming service Netflix took a whopping 42 nominations.
Those include director David Fincher’s pack-leading “Mank,” which garnered six nominations for top film drama, director, drama actor , supporting actress , score and screenplay.
Netflix and director Aaron Sorkin’s courtroom drama “The Trial of the Chicago 7” scored five nominations total. Chloé Zhao’s road movie “Nomadland,” which just debuted on Hulu, took four nominations.
The late Chadwick Boseman is in the running to be honored as best actor for his final film role in “Ma Raineys Black Bottom.” Boseman is the favorite in the race with Oldman, Riz Ahmed , Anthony Hopkins , and Tahar Rahim .

The 78th annual Golden Globe Awards will air on NBC on Sunday, Feb. 28 starting at 8 p.m. EST. They’ll be available to stream the next day on Peacock. In addition, the preshow will stream live from and at GoldenGlobes.com starting at 6:30 p.m. EST.
