Why Invest In 1 Oz Gold Bars
Gold bullion bars are some of our biggest selling gold bullion formats in the U.S. and globally. They are competitive from a price point of view and very suitable for both insured delivery and secure storage.
Gold bars that are one ounce can make nice gifts but are better bought as an investment or a store of value since they are conveniently sized, affordably priced, and are well-known in domestic and in international markets.
What Moves The Gold Market
While gold is one of the top commodity markets, only behind crude oil, its price action doesnt reflect traditional supply and demand fundamentals. The price of most commodities is usually determined by inventory levels and expected demand. Prices rise when inventories are low and demand is high; however, gold prices are impacted more by interest rates and currency fluctuations. Many analysts note that because of golds intrinsic value, it is seen more as a currency than a commodity, one of the reasons why gold is referred to as monetary metals. Gold is highly inversely correlated to the U.S. dollar and bond yields. When the U.S. dollar goes down along with interest rates, gold rallies. Gold is more driven by sentiment then traditional fundamentals.

Buy A House For 26 Oz Of Gold
An average house in the US costs around $265,000 today. Not that you get much for $265,000 but that is the average. Measured in gold that becomes 7 kilos or 225 ounces.
As I outlined in more detail in my article last week, my forecast for gold in coming years is at least $10,000 in todays money. In hyperinflationary money, it will be many times higher. At the same time, I expect that the inflated housing bubble fuelled by credit will collapse. House prices will go down by at least 75% and probably by as much as 90%.
A 75% fall in house prices is very realistic and a likely minimum fall. At that level with gold at $10,000 a house doesnt cost 7 kg or 225 oz but 0.2 kg or 7 oz. So in gold the price is now down 97% and costing 3% of what it cost in 2016. This sounds totally unrealistic but it has been the experience in countries with hyperinflationary depression like the Weimar Republic.
Lets also look at a fall in house prices of 90%. Even more unrealistic many would say. But lets just remember that an average house in 1916 was under 1% of what it costs today at $2,000 against $265,000 now. So in a credit collapse combined with interest rates at 15-20%, high unemployment and substantial economic contraction, a 90% fall could easily happen.
Short term gold is under pressure and could decline a bit further. It is even possible that they try to push it down in the paper market to the 2015 December low of $1,050.

I’ve Heard That Gold Traded 24/7 Is That True Is There An Open And A Close
Gold, actually trades 23 hours a day Sunday through Friday. Most OTC markets overlap each other; there is a one-hour period between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. eastern time where no market is actively trading. However, despite this one hour close, because spot is traded on OTC markets, there are no official opening or closing prices.
For larger transactions, most precious metals traders will use a benchmark price that is taken at specific periods during the trading day.
A Single Ounce Of Gold Can Now Buy A House In Venezuela Because Of Hyperinflation
Since last year, monetary policies instituted by Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro have skyrocketed inflation to the point that it is on the precipice of hyper-inflation. ;And reports going back just two months ago show that it is costing citizens around $150 just to buy a dozen eggs.
The official price of eggs is 1,020 bolivars. Yes, the government maintains official prices. But;Venezuelans can rarely find eggs at the government-run food stores. Maria Linares is a 42-year-old single mother who works for a government ministry as an accounting assistant. She told the;Los Angeles Times;she has to buy eggs on the street from vendors. Cost? Around 1,500 bolivars for 1-dozen eggs. That translates to $150 at the official exchange rate. –Schiff Gold
Yet something interesting is occurring in Venezuela at ground level outside the rise of black markets and government alternative price controls. ;And that is that physical gold and silver are both superseding the soaring price inflation tied to paper currencies, and according to a missionary who lives and works in Venezuela, a single ounce of silver can buy enough food for a family to last three months, and an ounce of gold can buy you a house.
So we’re starting to see what I’ve talking about and predicting for over a year, that we’re going to see these countries in Central and South America where everything is going to collapse and if you don’t have gold and silver, you literally have nothing.

Are Gold Futures The Same As Buying Physical Gold
While gold future prices will be similar to the bullion price, it is important to understand that gold futures contracts are not the same as owning the physical precious metal bullion. While you can technically buy a gold futures contract rather than an actual physical ounce of gold, youll ultimately pay more for your purchase in the end. The number of good delivery bullion products available in this manner is very limited, and youll not only pay the gold bullion price, but also a host of additional fees and charges before you can take delivery of a minimum of 100 oz gold per contract.
What Is Gold Spot Price
The spot price of gold is the most common standard used to gauge the going rate for a troy ounce of gold. The price is driven by speculation in the markets, currency values, current events, and many other factors. Gold spot price is used as the basis for most bullion dealers to determine the exact price to charge for a specific coin or bar. These prices are calculated in troy ounces and change every couple of seconds during market hours.

Whats The Difference Between Gold Futures And Bullion
Gold futures contracts are really nothing more than promissory notes. They promise that the individual or organization in question will buy or sell a specified amount of gold at a specific time in the future . These contracts may be for a few months down the road, or they may be for years ahead. There are several challenges here.
For instance, the price of gold youll pay will be significantly higher than buying just a single ounce , and the chance for the price of gold to change between the time you buy your futures contract and when you actually take delivery is high. While there is potential for the price to go up, meaning youve saved money, theres an equally good chance that the price might go down, meaning youve paid too much.
Why Does Gold History Price Matter
Paying attention to gold price history is crucial for a number of different reasons. Primarily, gold price history is important for determining the current trend. Too many new gold buyers rely on the gold spot price and immediate fluctuations to determine whether they should buy or sell. However, gold is best acquired and held in a longer term fashion, and gold price’s history helps you determine whether the overall trend is up, down or flat. Only by analyzing gold price history can you make an accurate determination of movement and then choose to take action or wait.

How Do Interest Rates Move The Price Of Gold
In simplest terms, interest rates represent the cost of borrowing money. The lower the interest rate, the cheaper it is to borrow money in that countrys currency. Rates have an impact on economic growth. Interest rates are a vital tool for central bankers in monetary policy decisions. A central bank can lower interest rates in order to stimulate the economy by allowing more people to borrow money and thus increase investment and consumption. Low interest rates weaken a nations currency and push down bond yields, both are positive factors for gold prices.

Why Are Silver And Gold Prices So Different
The reason gold and silver prices vary widely boils down to one simple fact: rarity. The less supply there is of a metal, the higher the price. Therefore, gold prices tend to be much higher than silver prices because it is much harder to get. The reason supply is much larger for silver is because it is an easier metal to mine and it is often mined as a by-product to other metals mining. The average occurrence of gold in igneous rock is 0.004 parts per million. Silver shows up at a rate of 0.07 parts per million.

Is The Live Gold Price Just For The Us
Gold is traded all over the globe, and is most often transacted in U.S. Dollars. Gold can, however, also be transacted in any other currency after appropriate exchange rates have been accounted for. That being said, the price of gold is theoretically the same all over the globe. This makes sense given the fact that an ounce of gold is the same whether it is bought in the U.S. or Asia.
The price of gold is available around the clock, and trading essentially never ceases. While investors in the U.S. are sound asleep, for example, gold trading in Asian markets may be robust. The market is very transparent, and live gold prices allow investors to stay on top of any significant shifts in price.
The current gold price can be readily found in newspapers and online. Although prices per ounce in dollars are typically used, you can also easily access the gold price in alternative currencies and alternative weights. Smaller investors, for example, may be more interested in the price of gold per gram than ounces or kilos. Larger investors who intend to buy in bulk will likely be more interested in the gold price per ounce or kilo. Whatever the case may be, live gold prices have never been more readily accessible, giving investors the information they need to make buying and selling decisions.
How Does The Gold Bar Price Vary From The Ounce Of Gold Price
Gold is available in many different forms, including modern gold coins, gold bars and older collectible gold coins.
The gold bar price will vary depending on the amount of gold in the bar. If the bar contains one ounce of gold, the price will typically be slightly less per ounce than the gold price for government guaranteed and minted gold bullion coins or other similar gold bullion collectible items. However, if the gold bar contains more or less gold, the price will vary mostly depending on overall weight. For instance, a one gram gold bar will not cost the same as an ounce gold bullion bar or a one kilo gold bar.
Make sure to know the exact amount of gold bullion contained in any gold bar or gold coin before purchasing or selling to ensure that you are indeed getting a fair price.
