The reality TV show is one of Discovery’s top rated and the near record high gold prices look set to make this season the most competitive yet. Gold Rush follows four mining companies as they battle for the best ground, most of which is already tied up, making the task even tougher. The miners are forced to dig deeper and go further into the wilderness in the hunt for their fortune.
Parker Schnabel is forced to take a risk and spend millions to get 50ft underground for what could be the richest he has ever mined. Competitor Tony Beets also finds himself in a sticky spot, with no water license for his Indian River operation, which he spent $5 million on new gear to mine.
Schnabel’s ex-foreman, Rick Ness, has his sights set high, aiming for 2,000 ounces of gold. But will he make it happen when two of his key teammates don’t turn up? Fred Lewis will be hoping not as the military veteran moves his operation north in the hopes of correcting last season’s Oregon mining mistakes.
Is There A New Episode Of Gold Rush Tonight
The premise of Discovery reality series “Gold Rush” is essentially outlined in its title its 12 seasons and various spinoffs all chronicle the efforts of a few different groups of gold miners to strike it rich, as many over the course of history have tried before them. For most of its run, Parker Schnabel and Rick Ness, who have been around since its earliest days, have remained at the show’s center. Various other personalities, like recent addition Fred Lewis, have rounded out the series’ main cast over the years.
Most recently, in Season 12 Episode 12, Parker decides to shut down his Slucifer wash plant in order to focus its crew on a promising site he nicknamed Mud Mountain. Rick, meanwhile, returns to a failed dig site from last season and ends up more successful this time around. Finally, Fred sends his stepson to work with Tony Beets.
Given that regularly scheduled TV programming often ceases at various points throughout the December Holiday season, fans of “Gold Rush” may be wondering whether or not a new episode will air tonight, on December 17.

In 1799 an event occurred in the southern Piedmont that made North Carolina a very desirable place to livethe discovery of gold!
Twelve-year-old Conrad Reed was fishing in Little Meadow Creek on his familys farm in Cabarrus County one day in 1799 when he found a seventeen-pound gold nugget. More gold was found in and along the creek, making Conrads father, John Reed, a very wealthy man. News of gold in Cabarrus County spread quickly. Soon gold was being found in neighboring countiesMontgomery, Stanly, Mecklenburg, Rowan, and Unionand people anxious to find gold of their own began moving into the area.
In the mid-1700s, the western portion of the southern Piedmont was a scarcely populated backcountry. Governor Arthur Dobbs visited the area in 1755 to survey land located in present-day Mecklenburg and Cabarrus counties that he had purchased ten years earlier. He found seventy-five Scots-Irish and twenty-two German families living there. He described these pioneers as industrious people, with most families having five to ten children. They raised livestock and crops such as corn, wheat, barley, rye, and indigo, and traded primarily with Charleston, South Carolina, some two hundred miles to the south. Charlotte, the states largest city today, was merely a dusty little village.
