The National Basketball Association preseason has kickstarted with some blockbuster matches having already taken place. Another exciting match is lined up on Friday night between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Golden State Warriors. The match is scheduled to start live at 7:30 AM IST on Saturday, October 16.
Ahead of the exciting match, here is a look at team news, predicted lineups, and more from the Portland Trail Blazers vs Golden State Warriors preseason match and of course, the question that everyone wants the answer to, is Steph Curry playing tonight?
Is Nicolas Batum Playing Tonight Against The Golden State Warriors
Don’t get us wrong, there is no denying the impact a 30 point game can have on a team. Or the greatness of a player averaging triple double seasons. Stat lines are hard-boiled facts, tangible even. But they are not the only way for a player to prove their worth.
Consider the stats of the source of Batum Battalion’s reverence. He averaged only 8.1 points, 2.2 assists and 4.7 rebounds per game in the 2020-21 regular season.
Yet he was considered essential for the Clippers’ championship bid by players, management and fans. With stats like these, what exactly makes Nicolas Batum so important for one of the best teams in the league?
Well, for one, Batum is not a mere role player with a very specific skillset. He is decent at almost everything and aptly takes on the role required by the team on a given night. Secondly, he plays the corner like no other on his team. Thirdly, he is a hard-core defender who doesn’t believe in giving up.
Coming soon, #ClipperNation.
These are the key ingredients for the making of a player on whom teams rely on despite having exceptional stars and generational talents.
And so, the question of whether the Clippers’ season debut tonight will feature him or not is not only relevant for the Batum Batalion, but for the the team’s entire fan base.
Golden State Warriors Team News
The Golden State Warriors have some minor injury concerns heading into the game. Draymond Green is listed as questionable for the game thanks to a finger injury. Eric Paschall is also listed as unavailable for the game, as he recovers from a hip injury. Steph Curry is expected to play, after missing the game against the Toronto Raptors.
Predicted Lineup: Steph Curry, Kelly Oubre Jr., Andrew Wiggins, Juan Toscano-Anderson, James Wiseman.

Warriors Players Likely On A Minutes Restriction Tonight
The Golden State Warriors will take on the Los Angeles Lakers tonight in what should be an exciting season opener. Unfortunately, two key contributors on Steve Kerrs squad might not receive a lot of playing time due to conditioning.
On Tuesday afternoon, Kerr announced that Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins will most likely be on a minutes restriction against the Lakers.
Green and Wiggins will be included in the Warriors starting lineup alongside Steph Curry, Jordan Poole and Kevon Looney. Itll be interesting to see how many minutes they receive, though.
If Green and Wiggins are unable to deal with a large workload tonight, Kerr could rely on Andre Iguodala and Otto Porter Jr. to come off the bench and contribute.
Status note: Andrew Wiggins and Draymond Green likely on a minutes restriction Tuesday.
After missing the postseason for the second year in a row, the Warriors are hopeful the right pieces are in place to compete for a title this season.
Golden State is still waiting for Klay Thompson to return from his Achilles injury. In the meantime, Kerr has more than enough playmakers to stay in the thick of things in the Western Conference.
Tipoff for tonights game between the Lakers and Warriors is at 10 p.m. ET on TNT. Perhaps this will end up being a Western Conference Finals preview.
Warriors’ Damion Lee: Scores 16 Points Tuesday
Lee posted 16 points , nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes during Tuesday’s preseason win over the Lakers.
In Lee’s four preseason appearances, he’s averaged 9.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.8 minutes, though he’s shot just 10.0 percent from distance. He’ll be battling for reserve backcourt minutes throughout the season.

Warriors’ Quinndary Weatherspoon: Links Up With Golden State
Weatherspoon signed a contract with the Warriors on Monday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Golden State’s press release doesn’t specify the terms of Weatherspoon’s deal, but he’s presumably joining the club on an Exhibit 10 contract, which would allow the Warriors to retain his G League rights in the likely event he’s waived before the start of the regular season. While playing under two-way deals for the Spurs in both of the past two seasons, Weatherspoon appeared in 31 games and averaged 1.9 points in 6.4 minutes per contest.
Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga: Strains Patella Tendon
Kuminga suffered a strained patella tendon in his right knee during Wednesday’s preseason game and will be re-evaluated in one week, Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.
Kuminga is presumably out for the remainder of the preseason, and his status for the regular-season opener Oct. 19 against the Lakers is in jeopardy. If the rookie is forced to miss time early in the season, more minutes could be available for Otto Porter, Moses Moody, Damion Lee and Andre Iguodala. The Warriors have a wealth of potential options, so it’s tough to know if there will be an actionable beneficiary in terms of upward fantasy production.

What Is Nicolas Batum’s Status For Tonight’s Game Against The Golden State Warriors
The LA Clippers are all set to fight the Golden State Warriors at the Chase Center on Thursday. The Warriors began their season by besting the other Los Angeles team on Tuesday.
The Clippers will face this tough opponent without the likes of Serge Ibaka, Keon Johnson, Kawhi Leonard and Jason Preston, who are all reportedly injured or ill.
However, Batum, the fifth entry in the injury report submitted by the Clippers, has not been listed as injured or ill.
Instead, the cause for his absence has been marked with “Personal Reasons.” The personal reasons that will keep the small forward out in tonight’s game aren’t clear as of now.
In a tweet dated October 21, Medina wrote: “Clippers say that Nicolas Batum will be out for tomorrow’s season opener vs. the Warriors for personal reasons. Clippers already have been without Kawhi, Ibaka, Keon Johnson & Jason Preston”

Warriors’ Jordan Poole: Another Strong Performance
Poole recorded 18 points , five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Tuesday’s 111-99 preseason win over the Lakers.
Poole has shown all preseason that he’s on the cusp of taking the next step in his NBA career. While his usage figures to decrease in the regular season, it appears he’s going to be one of the Warriors’ key rotation players all year, and especially before Klay Thompson returns.

The LA Clippers lost a nail biter in Game 1 of this new season to the Golden State Warriors.
Steph Curry just couldnt be stopped, and despite many good offensive performances from LA, it just wasnt meant to be on Thursday.
Coming into this game, the LA Clippers have a good chance to win once again, and will be back in Staples in front of their fans for the first time this season.
The Grizzlies won their first game, although it was against a Cleveland Cavaliers team that isnt very good. Memphis will be one of the competitive teams in this conference, and the Clips need to win this one.

Is Lebron James Playing Tonight Against The Golden State Warriors
The two sides last met in a Play-In tournament game in the 2021 NBA playoffs, a fixture which was settled by LeBron James scoring a three-pointer over Stephen Curry, eventually helping the LA Lakers secure the 7th spot in the standings.
However, LeBron James’ participation in tonight’s affair is in doubt, as the LA Lakers talisman has not featured in the last two preseason games.
Warriors’ Jordan Poole: Still On Fire
Poole recorded 28 points , three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes during Friday’s 121-114 preseason win over the Lakers.
Poole has been an absolute flamethrower through the Warriors’ first three preseason contests. The 22-year-old, a No. 28 overall pick in 2019, has averaged 25.0 points on 52.0 percent shooting in just 23.4 minutes. He’ll presumably start at shooting guard while Klay Thompson remains sidelined. Poole is quickly climbing up the list of fantasy sleepers.

Golden State Warriors Vs Los Angeles Lakers Betting Odds
At the time of writing this article, the spread has the favored Lakers at -4. This makes sense as they deal with less significant injuries than the Warriors, who are without Thompson and Wiseman. They are also playing at home, which should provide an obvious advantage. However, I believe the Warriors are clicking on all cylinders while Los Angeles is still trying to figure itself out. Later in the season, this may look different, but for now, I like the Warriors with the points.

Golden State Warriors Analysis
Golden State is dealing with a few injuries to key players to start this year however, the Warriors should be used to it after the past two seasons. While Klay Thompson and James Wiseman should be available for most of the season, they will be out for this contest against the Lakers. Golden State will be calling upon young guard Jordan Poole to step into a starting role while Thompson is out to play alongside Curry.
Poole had looked every bit the part of starter throughout the preseason in addition to last season when Curry was out, and he had to start in his place. He can be a candidate for Most Improved Player if he plays as well as he has looked recently. Meanwhile, Kevon Looney will start instead of James Wiseman, who is still recovering from a meniscus injury.
The Warriors should keep this game close regardless of the injuries because of their discipline, coaching, and defense. If they shoot well, and Steph Curry has a performance that looks like one from his 2020-21 season, they could certainly beat the Lakers on the road.

Clippers Vs Grizzlies Prediction
The Clippers will be winning this game today. Despite the loss on Thursday, the likes of Paul George and Eric Bledsoe went nuts, and built momentum for this game.
Memphis was a playoff team last year and could be this year too, but the Clippers have who will be the best player on the court tonight. There are certainly some tough injuries for the Clips to deal with, but I like the Clips at home tonight over a team whos likely not as good as the Warriors team they almost beat on the road.

Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga: Tweaks Knee In Preseason Contest
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr said Kuminga was removed in the fourth quarter of Wednesday’s 118-116 preseason win over the Nuggets after tweaking his knee, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.
Kerr wasn’t willing to speculate on the extent of Kuminga’s injury, noting only that the rookie will meet with the training staff for further evaluation. Before departing, Kuminga scored three points and added two rebounds and an assist in six minutes.
What Channel Is Warriors Vs Grizzlies On Today Tv Schedule Start Time For Nba Play
If contrasting styles make for great fights, then Friday night’s play-in game between the Grizzlies and Warriors should be a doozy.
Memphis is known for its interior attack, as it led the NBA in both points in the paint per game and second-chance points per game . Grizzlies guard Ja Morant is relentless in his assaults on the rim, and center Jonas Valanciunas has been pushing around opposing big men all season long.
Golden State, on the other hand, enjoys launching from deep. The Warriors finished in the top five in both 3-point field goals made and attempted per game. That’s no surprise considering leading scorer Stephen Curry is the greatest shooter in NBA history.

While shooting from downtown, Nicolas Batum landed 1.6 threes per game in 2020-21. While that may not be as impressive as Stephen Curry‘s 5.3 during the same season, his efficiency of 40.4% makes him a considerable threat to the opponents as he can not only land three-pointers but also open up the paint for Paul George and others who can rush the restricted area.
While facing the Warriors, Batum’s experience, his newly acquired quick release corner three and pesty defense would have come in handy. With Kawhi also out, Nicolas could have played an even more important role for the team.
Is Stephen Curry Playing Tonight
Since the final seeding of the season would get decided on Sunday, the Warriors have decided to rest three of their heavy rotation players. According to Anthony Slater, the Warriors are resting Stephen Curry, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green. Curry is nursing his tailbone still, and Green is suffering from knee troubles. This break should be a good chance for them to rest up and heal.
Steph Curry, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins are out tonight against the Pelicans, per source. Banged up at the end of a long season and no stakes on the line. Memphis resting all their main guys tonight, as well. Both teams gearing up for Sundays finale.
The Warriors played six games in the last nine days, and the players need a break before the key decider game on Sunday. Since the outcome of todays game is almost of no use going into Sunday, both Memphis and Golden State have decided to rest their key players. Whoever wins the game on Sunday would end up facing LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers for the 7th-8th seed play-in game.
