Coghlan appeared in 29 games last season, logging six points, 29 hits and a minus-3 rating while often serving as a bottom-pairing option. The 23-year-old will likely continue in a similar role this season. He’ll have to compete with Zach Whitecloud and Nicolas Hague when the Golden Knights’ defense corps is at full health.

Theodore is considered day-to-day with his undisclosed injury, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.
Theodore exited Sunday’s preseason game versus San Jose with an undisclosed issue. He won’t play in Tuesday night’s preseason contest against Colorado, but his day-to-day tag suggests he should be back on the ice sooner rather than later. Golden Knights Coach Peter Deboer Says Pacioretty Is ‘week
The Vegas Golden Knights‘ quest for a third consecutive deep playoff run and first ever Stanley Cup win took a massive hit this week. Coach Peter DeBoer announced linemates Max Pacioretty and are both out with injuries, thinning a team already without talented winger Alex Tuch.
Pacioretty has a lower-body fracture and is considered week-to-week, according to DeBoer, and multiple reports indicate he suffered a foot injury. The 32-year-old winger looked to have sustained the injury in the second period of Thursday’s 6-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings. DeBoer described the injury, which Pacioretty played through, as “flukey” and “just one of those things.”
Stone’s injury is less serious, with DeBoer saying he is day-to-day and still undergoing evaluation. The Golden Knights’ next game is on Wednesday, a full eight days after their last for the team captain to rest and recuperate.
Even if Stone returns, Vegas’ health problems — especially this early in the season — are concerning. Tuch, who scored 18 goals and 15 assists for the Golden Knights in 2020-21, isn’t expected to return until at least January after undergoing shoulder surgery on July 30.
After sustaining a massive loss to the Kings and losing two thirds of his best line to injuries, DeBoer isn’t minding the eight-day layoff.
DeBoer: This is an opportunity for anyone we put in the lineup to take the opportunity and run with it.

Golden Knights’ Daniil Chayka: Inks Entry
Chayka signed a three-year, entry-level contract with Vegas on Sunday.
Chayka was a second-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. He suited up for 11 games with KHL Moscow last season, notching a goal and two points with a minus-2 rating. The 18-year-old blueliner is still at least a couple of years away from making an NHL impact.
