The first subscription to consider is Xbox Game Pass for console, which encompasses Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. With it, you get access to a library of over 340 games, including all first-party Xbox titles as soon as they launch–in some cases, you even get the Ultimate edition of each game. At the moment, these include excellent exclusives like Gears 5, Forza Horizon 4, and Sea of Thieves as well as newer games like Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Grounded, and Gears Tactics. New games are added and removed all the time. That means you lose access to some games once they leave Game Pass, but thankfully, all Game Pass subscribers get discounts on every game included with the service. Microsoft lets users know which games are leaving, giving you a chance to snag them at a discount before they’re gone. First-party games like Gears 5 and Forza Horizon 4 don’t generally get removed, so you don’t have to worry about losing access to them. Who Got Battlefield 2042 Early Access
Early Access for Battlefield 2042 started on November 12, and was available for anyone who bought the Gold Edition or Ultimate Edition, or subscribed to EA Play Pro, which includes access to the Ultimate Edition.You can also play a ten-hour trial of Battlefield 2042 before release if you’re a basic EA Play subscriber using Origin, or if you’re an Xbox Game Pass subscriber. To do this, simply search Battlefield 2042 in the Game Pass app and you’ll be prompted to view EA Play games and link your EA account.Once you’ve done this, you can play the ten hour trial through the EA Play with Game Pass beta app.

Given the various Xbox account options available, it might be worth revisiting what’s on offer to see if you’re getting the most out of your gaming downtime. Depending on what you’re looking for, Xbox Live may be more than enough, or you may find that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives you the most bang for you buck. So if you’re curious about whether forking over the extra cash every month is worth it, let’s break down the what your options are, and how much they’ll cost.

What Does Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Include
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate debuts as Microsoft’s new all-inclusive subscription for gaming, bundling leading Xbox subscriptions at a discounted rate. Comprised of three high-value memberships spanning Xbox One consoles and Windows 10 PCs, it presents sizeable savings over purchasing each separately.

The library of games has shrunk somewhat from that which was offered during the testing period, but there are still some of Microsoft’s finest in there for launch along with some top titles from third-party publishers. Most recently, titles brought in-house with Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda have joined the game streaming ranks.
Cloud Gaming is part of the main Game Pass app for Android, while on iOS, Mac, Chrome OS, and Linux, Xbox Cloud Gaming is available through the browser.

But a simpler way of putting it is that Game Pass and Game Pass for PC are basically just about getting you a growing, on-demand library of downloadable games for your Xbox console or Windows PC respectively including much newer games than you might think whereas Game Pass Ultimate gives you both of those subscriptions plus xCloud and all the additional free games, discounts, and online multiplayer that an Xbox Live Gold subscription typically provides.
If youve only got a Windows PC, theres not much reason to buy Ultimate unless you really, really want to try xCloud on your Android phone. But for $9.99 a month, the normal Xbox Game Pass for PC already includes access to over 200 PC games, including brand-new titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator. With each of these subscriptions, Microsoft has promised all its new first-party titles will be there at launch. The PC version will also come with EA Play titles later this year.
If youve got Windows and Xbox, Ultimate might make more sense so you can play games on both platforms, of course.
For console gamers, Gold is a good get
But even if youre just an Xbox console gamer who plays online multiplayer with friends, the Ultimate subscription is tempting for just $5 more than the standard Game Pass because thats how much youd pay for multiplayer anyhow over the course of a 1-year Xbox Live Gold subscription .

Microsoft is combining its Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass service into one bundle called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, but is it worth it?
Microsoft recently announced a new bundle that will allow you to pay for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass in one simple payment plan called Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, which will launch sometime later this year.
For the uninitiated, Xbox Live Gold gives you access to online multiplayer, while Xbox Game Pass offers a Netflix-esque library of more than 100 games that you can download and play for as long as youre subscribed to the service.
How Much Is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate?

Both subscriptions are currently priced at $10 per month, which adds up to $20 if youre paying monthly, but Xbox Game Pass Ultimate brings that package to just $15 a month. In that sense, youre saving money, but not that much.
One year of Xbox Live Gold costs $60, so if youre already paying for a yearly Xbox Live subscription and are also subscribed to Xbox Game Pass, then this wont change anything, as both add up to the yearly cost of $180.
Additionally, yearly and six-month Xbox Game Pass subscriptions occasionally go on sale, and anything under their current prices would make it cheaper than the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate deal .

Also do so in the largest increments possiblea 12-month code for Gold works out much cheaper per month than the one-month, three-month, and six-month varieties. When purchasing codes, always remember that Microsofts servers wont let you redeem a code for a duration that exceeds the 36-month cap.
Warning: If you buy three 1-year subscriptions, do not turn on recurring billing while redeeming the codes. Any extra freebie months you get for doing so will make it impossible to redeem the final code.

If you prefer to curate your own library of games, and play through at a leisurely pace, you may find that access to so many titles that you’re just not going to get through isn’t working out as cost effective as you thought in the long run.
