Xbox Game Pass Ultimate Confirmed Includes Xbox Live Gold & Xbox Game Pass

Earlier this month, rumours started swirling around a combined Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass subscription dubbed Xbox Game Pass Ultimate. Today, on Inside Xbox, Larry Hryb confirmed that the new subscription service includes Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass and will cost US$14.99 a month.

As mentioned in the tweet above, the new combined subscription will include both Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold at a slightly reduced rate. With the new Ultimate service, youll get access to online gaming, additional discounts on purchases, and five free games a month with Games with Gold, as well as access to over 100 Xbox One, Xbox 360, and classic Xbox games on Xbox Game Pass.

A limited number of Xbox Insiders will get access to test the new subscription service over the next little while before the service launches later this year. When it does launch, it will be available in all markets that Xbox Game Pass is currently available in.

But a simpler way of putting it is that Game Pass and Game Pass for PC are basically just about getting you a growing, on-demand library of downloadable games for your Xbox console or Windows PC respectively including much newer games than you might think whereas Game Pass Ultimate gives you both of those subscriptions plus xCloud and all the additional free games, discounts, and online multiplayer that an Xbox Live Gold subscription typically provides.

If youve only got a Windows PC, theres not much reason to buy Ultimate unless you really, really want to try xCloud on your Android phone. But for $9.99 a month, the normal Xbox Game Pass for PC already includes access to over 200 PC games, including brand-new titles like Microsoft Flight Simulator. With each of these subscriptions, Microsoft has promised all its new first-party titles will be there at launch. The PC version will also come with EA Play titles later this year.

What Exactly Is Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Subscribers to Ultimate will have access to both for one monthly subscription cost instead of two separate ones. Additionally, the newer Xbox Game Pass for PC subscription is also included with Game Pass Ultimate.

Xbox Game Pass is Microsoft’s subscription service that offers complete access to a huge library of games covering both Xbox Series X/S and backward-compatible titles. You can download these to your console to play in full for as long as you’re a paying subscriber or the games in question remain in the Game Pass library.

Better yet, if a Game Pass title also supports Xbox Play Anywhere, you get access to play those on your PC, as well, as part of your subscription, even if you don’t have Game Pass Ultimate.

If youre a regular Xbox One owner, than Microsofts subscription-style service Game Pass will be available on June 1st. However, for Xbox Live Gold subscribers, the service is available now via free 14-day trial. Those who wish to subscribe to Game Pass can also avail an exclusive discount.

How To Convert Xbox Live Gold To Xbox Game Pass Ultimate

Step 1

Add months to an Xbox Live Gold subscription using digital subscription codes purchased from Microsoft or another retailer . Increase the time on Xbox Live Gold, not standard Xbox Game Pass, because its the cheaper option.

Note: Microsoft discontinued selling 12-month Xbox Live Gold subscriptions on its website during the summer of 2020, but third-party retailers still sell them for now.

Amazon

Amazon is one of the easiest places to purchase digital subscription codes for Xbox Live Gold, but a couple of other online retailers are cheaper.

Also do so in the largest increments possiblea 12-month code for Gold works out much cheaper per month than the one-month, three-month, and six-month varieties. When purchasing codes, always remember that Microsofts servers wont let you redeem a code for a duration that exceeds the 36-month cap.

Warning: If you buy three 1-year subscriptions, do not turn on recurring billing while redeeming the codes. Any extra freebie months you get for doing so will make it impossible to redeem the final code.

Also note that short multi-day trial codes for Xbox Live Gold wont work for this promotion .

Tips:

Dont forget that this Game Pass Ultimate $1 promotion includes one month of service that stacks on top of whatever amount of Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass subscription time you convert. You wont get the full month if it puts you over the 36 month cap, though.
