Curry and Klay Thompson combined for 60 points as the visiting Warriors pulled away late to claim a 4-2 series victory on Friday night.

The Warriors prevailed in the finale of the best-of-seven series despite playing without their leading scorer this postseason, Kevin Durant, sidelined due to a calf injury.

Durant’s status is uncertain ahead of Game 1 of the Western Conference finals, which takes place in Oakland in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The Warriors will face the Portland Trail Blazers or the Denver Nuggets.

Curry, scoreless on 0-for-5 shooting in the first half, sank a pair of dagger three-pointers down the stretch of the fourth quarter and posted 33 points. He was 8-for-8 from the foul line in the final 30.4 seconds of the game.

Warriors’ James Wiseman: Full Clearance Weeks Away

The Warriors’ training staff has targeted Friday as the date Wiseman should be able to start jumping and working out at full speed, and a “full clearance” is expected in the next couple weeks, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.

While it sounds like Wiseman could get back into games as soon as early November, there’s also the possibility, Slater reports, that the center could spend time in the G League in closed-door scrimmages or possibly full games. It doesn’t seem too likely the center would spend a significant chunk of time in Santa Cruz, however. For as much as he struggled as a rookie, especially given his draft pedigree, Wiseman certainly figures to be a useful rotation player for the Warriors this season in some capacity. Ultimately, it seems like he’ll often spend time with the bench unit this season, where he can better demonstrate his upside, and his mistakes aren’t as harmful. Notably, Golden State brought in a new assistant coach, Dejan Milojevic, who is doing a lot of work to develop Wiseman into a more well-rounded player. Milojevic was a head coach in Serbia where his Mega Basket program helped produce the likes of Nikola Jokic, Ivica Zubac and Boban Marjanovic.

How The Golden State Warriors Are Breaking The NBA ...

Strictly by winning percentage and titles, Steve Kerr is the best coach he has won three titles and possesses the best win-loss record at 337-138 in the regular season and 77-28 in the playoffs.

Al Attles, who presided for 14 seasons including the majority of the 1970ss, won a the 1975 championship and possesses only the second over-.500 record as a head coach for the Warriors that stayed on for more than three years.

In third is Don Nelson, who spent 11 non-consecutive seasons in Golden State, including five postseason trips and that memorable “We Believe” season in 2006-07, which saw the Warriors take down the No. 1 seed Dallas Mavericks in the first round.

Honorary mentions go to George Senesky, who went three straight postseasons in three years with the club, winning the 1956 title, and Edward Gottlieb, a nine-year coach and the franchise’s first, who led the team to the inaugural BAA championship in 1946. Both titles occurred during the Philadelphia origin days.

Who Are Warriors Legends

Of course we have to include the top five Warriors players of all time previously listed: Stephen Curry, Wilt Chamberlain, Rick Barry, Paul Arizin, and Nate Thurmond. The man who has played the most games in Warriors history, though, is Chris Mullin. The 6-foot-6 swingman from St. John’s was Golden State’s consolation prize during that inaugural 1985 draft lottery and became a five-time All-Star and Hall of Famer.

Another player not mentioned whose jersey is retired by the team is Tom Meschery, Chamberlain’s frontcourt partner and Russian-American one-time All-Star. His No. 14 was retired in 1967.

Before coaching them, Al Attles spent 11 seasons as Golden State’s point guard he played the fifth-most games for the team before serving as head coach.

Klay Thompson deserves a mention as he’s Curry’s co-star and three-time champion along with scoring the eighth-most points and counting in club history.

What Makes Lebron James So Great

Greens career trajectory has aligned with that of Golden States return to greatness. As the 2012 second-round pick came into his own, the team hit the stratosphere, snapping a 40-year title drought. Over the teams five-year Finals run, Green established himself among the most versatile and impactful players of an entire generation, totaling 80.3 RAPTOR wins above replacement more than all but two players: Curry and James Harden.

Games with a triple-double

Includes regular season and playoffs.

One easy way to see Greens impact on his team is by looking at what happens when he goes off. Including the playoffs, Green has amassed 34 triple-doubles over his nine-year career. In those games, the Warriors maintain a win percentage of .882, tied for fifth-best for any player in NBA history, according to Elias Sports Bureau.1

Green hasnt recorded a triple-double in more than a year, though, and hes had only one double-double this season. That trend is undoubtedly related to the injuries nagging him over the past two seasons.

I think Im like two to three weeks away, Green said after a win over Detroit on Saturday. Just continuing to get in shape. My speed is kind of getting there. I dunked the ball today. That was big time. I was really excited about that.

Stephen Curry Scores 30 Points in Warriors’ Win vs. Lakers | Oct. 8, 2021

Wiggins won’t play in Friday’s preseason contest against the Lakers, Anthony Slater of The Athletic reports.

Wiggins didn’t practice Thursday, so his status for Friday’s game is no surprise. The 26-year-old forward’s absence will allow some of the Warriors’ younger players to get extended run against the Lakers.

How Will The Warriors Address Their Roster Problems With $130+ Million Locked Up With Four Players

The first way, of course, is to trade one or two of them. It’s never fair to assume anybody is off limits in the NBA these days, but Steph Curry and Klay Thompson anchoring the guard spots seems like a lock. Wiggins, though, could be traded, as he makes $94 million over the next three years and $29.5 million just in 2020-21 .

Provided that, maybe trading Wiggins is indeed the best course of action to regroup on the salary cap and divvy up compensation for multiple players helping round out the roster instead of rolling the dice with the inconsistent former No. 1 pick.

Will Health Be A Problem For The Warriors Again In 2020

Golden State Warriors vs. Memphis Grizzlies: Live Score ...

Five consecutive trips to the NBA Finals took their toll on the Warriors’ stars during the 2019-20 season Thompson was shelved with an injury suffered during the last Finals run and Curry had a freak hand fracture early in the season. Besides that, though, it’s fair to assume that a near-year rest for the two stars should help them recuperate heading into 2020-21.

Further, these two specific injuries were not ones of repetition , they were a single broken bone and a torn ACLboth requiring surgery, but not injuries borne out of lingering issues re-aggravated by continual use .

Of course, Thompson tore his Achilles tendon ahead of the 2020-21 season, putting a real damper on their title hopes. However, theres no reason to believe health will be a problem for Curry and the rest of the roster.

Warriors’ Andrew Wiggins: Might Not Play Friday

Wiggins didn’t practice Thursday due to “nicks and bruises” and may not play Friday against the Lakers, Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.

Wiggins was recently vaccinated, which is the more important recent news for the starting wing. Still, if he’s out Friday, more minutes will be available for the team’s young bench options.

Halftime: Lakers 59 Warriors 53

The Lakers led by as many as 10 points, with AD and LeBron keeping their foot on the gas. Despite the Lakers dominance inside, the Warriors refuse to go away, with their bench unit of Andre Iguodala, Nemanja Bjielica and Damion Lee giving them some valuable minutes. The trio has combined for 20 points at the half.

Warriors’ Quinndary Weatherspoon: Links Up With Golden State

Weatherspoon signed a contract with the Warriors on Monday, Evan Webeck of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Golden State’s press release doesn’t specify the terms of Weatherspoon’s deal, but he’s presumably joining the club on an Exhibit 10 contract, which would allow the Warriors to retain his G League rights in the likely event he’s waived before the start of the regular season. While playing under two-way deals for the Spurs in both of the past two seasons, Weatherspoon appeared in 31 games and averaged 1.9 points in 6.4 minutes per contest.

Warriors’ Jordan Poole: Another Strong Performance

Golden State Warriors vs Portland Trail Blazers Full Game Highlights 2021 NBA Preseason

Poole recorded 18 points , five rebounds, four assists and one steal in 19 minutes during Tuesday’s 111-99 preseason win over the Lakers.

Poole has shown all preseason that he’s on the cusp of taking the next step in his NBA career. While his usage figures to decrease in the regular season, it appears he’s going to be one of the Warriors’ key rotation players all year, and especially before Klay Thompson returns.

Warriors’ Damion Lee: Scores 16 Points Tuesday

Lee posted 16 points , nine rebounds, two assists and one steal in 22 minutes during Tuesday’s preseason win over the Lakers.

In Lee’s four preseason appearances, he’s averaged 9.3 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 16.8 minutes, though he’s shot just 10.0 percent from distance. He’ll be battling for reserve backcourt minutes throughout the season.

Will The Warriors Trade Andrew Wiggins

With the Warriors possessing the second overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, rumors flew around about swapping out Andrew Wiggins and/or the No. 2 pick for a better supporting cast while the Warriors already have on their roster top stars in Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. The top-three pick and Wiggins could have been spent on a different star or multiple high-end rotation players to complement the Splash Bros.

However, as recently as August 2020, Wiggins was reportedly viewed by the organization as a core member of the franchise alongside the All-Star backcourt and Draymond Green. And sure enough, the Warriors kept the pick and didnt trade Wiggins.

Given that, perhaps Wiggins will stay in the Bay Area at least until the next trade deadline to see how he fits with the Warriors .

Warriors’ Jordan Poole: Still On Fire

Poole recorded 28 points , three rebounds, two assists and two steals in 25 minutes during Friday’s 121-114 preseason win over the Lakers.

Poole has been an absolute flamethrower through the Warriors’ first three preseason contests. The 22-year-old, a No. 28 overall pick in 2019, has averaged 25.0 points on 52.0 percent shooting in just 23.4 minutes. He’ll presumably start at shooting guard while Klay Thompson remains sidelined. Poole is quickly climbing up the list of fantasy sleepers.

Who Owns The Warriors

Golden State Warriors

The Warriors were purchased by a group led by Peter Guber, a Hollywood producer, and Joe Lacob, a venture capitalist, in 2010 for approximately $450 million. Lacob, acting as majority owner, bought the franchise from Chris Cohan, who had owned the team since the mid-1990s. Before that, Cohan bought the team Jim Fitzgerald and Dan Finnane in 1985.

During the 2019-20 season, Steve Kerr’s bench consisted of former Cleveland Cavaliers and Lakers head coach Mike Brown, Jarron Collins , Ron Adams, and Bruce Fraser. The player development coach was Chris DeMarco.

Brown has interviewed with multiple head-coaching vacancies in the offseason, though, so it’s unclear whether he will stay on board or not.
