Universal Studios Annual Pass Blackout Dates Hollywood
The Annual Pass Blackout Dates in Universal Studios Hollywood are days youre not allowed to use your pass to get in. So if youd like to visit the park these days, you have to pay the rates for a day ticket.
You can check the blackout dates for your pass by entering the Calendar ID on this page.
You can find your 4-5 characters Calendar ID under your pass member ID. Remember, the Platinum Annual Pass has no blackout dates, while the Gold Annual Pass has less than 40 blackout days in the year.
The Silver and California Neighbor Pass both have the highest number of blackout dates, so you should pay more attention to the calendar.
Generally, the cheapest Annual Passes will keep you out of the Universal Studio Hollywood Park on weekends and National or Local Holidays.
How Much Are Universal Studios Hollywood Tickets
The cost of park admission depends on various factors, including when and where you purchase your tickets and what kind of pass and benefits you want. However, you can save money when you book discounted tickets in advance instead of purchasing your ticket at the front gate. Gate pricing currently breaks down as follows:

How Express Pass Works At The Rides
The Express Pass is also known as the Universal Express Pass or Universal Express Ticket.
It is an upgrade on the General Admission Ticket, the cheapest and most popular way to enter Universal Studios.
The Express Pass also includes access to the Universal Studios Hollywood Studio Tour, the 60-minute tram tour around the backlots.
When you purchase an Express Ticket, it gets emailed to you.
On the day of your visit, you can show it on your smartphone and walk into the theme park.
Every time you go on a ride, you can skip the long ride queue and instead walk in through the entrance for Express Pass holders.
You will then scan your Express Pass and get on the ride without waiting.
Universal Studios Express Pass completely eliminates your waiting time, making it a great way to save time and see more of the Park.

Renewing An Annual Pass
There are a couple of different things that can happen when your Universal Annual Pass expires. For Guests who have paid for their Annual Passes in full, there is not a renewal process. A Guest that has paid in full for their Annual Pass will simply have to get a new Annual Pass when their current pass expires. At that point, they can either change the pass they have, keep the same type of pass, or even upgrade. They can also decide to change to Flex Payments if they would like.
For those who have an Annual Pass through Flex Pay, there is no need to renew your pass at all! When your Annual Pass is about to expire, Universal will email you saying that you will continue with your pass on a month-to-month basis. The email will tell you how much you will be paying monthly which will be a little higher since you will not be making a down payment but you can cancel at any time.
For Flex Pay Pass Members, you can also choose not to do monthly payments. If you decide to go that route, you will have to buy a new Annual Pass when you want one, and put down another down payment.

How Much Are Aaa Universal Studios Tickets
AAA and the CAA, the Canadian equivalent both offer slight Universal Studios discounts to their members.
All AAA and CAA members get $3 off all admission into Universal Studios when purchasing tickets from the front gate. Also, members get 10% off many locations at the Universal CityWalk restaurants.
Just like all of the other general admission for Universal Studios Hollywood, you will save the most when you purchase your tickets in advance on the AAA and CAA joint website. There can be deals on Universal Studios during the off season, however these still rarely compare to the discounts that are exclusively for Mickey Visit subscribers.
What If I Am A California Resident
California residents get slightly discounted tickets for one day admission. You still have to go through the same process as above by choosing the exact date you want to visit, but you also have to show proof of residency to take advantage of this offer.
Like I said, this is a slight discount. The prices are tiered just like regular tickets and they correspond to the same tiers as above, but the prices range from $104, $109, $114, $119, $124, $134, and $139.
So when regular ticket prices are $109, they are $104 for California residents, and so on.

Are Annual Passes Worth It
The biggest decision to make when purchasing a Universal Studios Annual Pass is the cost. Is it worth the price? In short, yes. In most cases, an Annual Pass will pay for itself in just a few visits to the theme park. It is especially worth it if you live close to Universal Studios Hollywood. Universal Hollywood is not a large park, so it is not a park that Guests need to dedicate a whole day to if they do not wish to. Sometimes hopping down to the park to ride an attraction or two and grab a bite to eat are all that is needed to have a great time!
Whether or not you chose to buy a Universal Hollywood Annual Pass, one thing is for sure, any time at Universal Studios Hollywood is a fun time!

Should You Get A Universal Studios Hollywood Annual Pass
This largely depends on how often you plan on visiting the park in a single calendar year. A 1-day general admission ticket costs between $109 and $129 and the cheapest season pass costs $149, so if you are a California resident planning on visiting more than once in a 9-month period it would make sense to get a season pass, unless you only plan on visiting during weekends/holidays/blackout dates.
The top tier annual pass costs $459 for the entire year, so you would need to visit at least four times to make the price worth it.
There are of course other costs to factor in like parking fees and pass discounts, so the answer to the question is an annual pass right for me is going to vary from person to person.
Here is a price breakdown of each Universal Studios Hollywood season & annual pass:
- California Neighbor Pass: $159
- Includes Universal Express access to all rides, shows and attractions
- Free Halloween Horror Nights ticket
