Necklace tangles are inevitable, especially when you layer multiple at a time. But, we do have a handy tool called the Layered Necklace Detangler that makes it a whole lot easier to manage! Its a game changer for necklace layering. All you do is attach your necklaces to the detangler & go about your day! We also have some other tips that will help necklaces from tangling so much:
- Unclasp the necklace and dangle it from one side to get all the twists out. This will ensure that the necklace doesn’t already have twists on its own and tangle even more.
- Put on daintier necklaces first, and then chunky necklaces. The chunkier chains will stay in place, and they’ll also help weigh down the daintier chains.
- Use necklaces with different chains or materials. Different chains/materials won’t tangle as much as necklaces with the same chain.
- Mix chunky + dainty. Dainty necklaces tend to tangle less with chunkier chains, and more so with other dainty necklaces.
Can You Mix Metals When Layering Necklaces
Mixing metals is definitely on the increase, style-wise. While keeping the same metal throughout is quite classic and old school, there is a certain je ne sais quoi that mixing metals gives to an outfit.
Most of you will be new to mixing metals. The easiest is silver and gold. Try a gold chain with a silver pendant or charm and build it out from there!

Every day when I’m getting dressed, jewelry becomes the final touch. I often find myself putting on one necklace, and then another, and another and another, then taking one off, then switching one out, then taking them all off in an attempt to start from scratch, then eventually giving up. Luckily, I spoke to the queen of necklace layering â Alexandra Smith, the founder of jewelry line Alexandra Phillip â about how, exactly to layer the right way. Her line is full of simple, elegant gold pieces that can be worn separately, but are really meant to be worn together. The collection was inspired by the belief that when a woman wears jewelry that makes her feel good, it gives her confidence, and shows in the way she carries herself, and the pieces are designed to make every woman feel effortlessly stylish and enable her to express her best self.

How To Layer Gold Jewellery
I asked two of my favourite female jewellery designers for their tips on how to nail the layering trend this season. For Roxanne of Roxanne First, its all about more is more.
I think its a great opportunity to layer all kinds of necklaces, from beads to fine gold chains and chunkier statement pieces. Summer is great as we arent bundled up in jumpers so our décolletage is always on show! Adding beads allows you to add some colour! Our personalisation pieces are brilliant to layer, and ideally youd want a few size options to layer . All in all, its about having some fun, mixing and matching textures and golds, she says.
Meanwhile, Rosh of Alighieri recommends mixing and matching different textures, I always wear four to five necklaces, all with different chains that can elevate a t-shirt and jeans, and really allow you to tell a unique story. The more different the chains, the better. At the moment, Im wearing lots of gold charms and pearls.

A crew neck can feel a little plain, so adding a tiny pop of gold that hangs lower is a perfect polishing effect to a minimal crew neck.
V-NECK TOPS
V-neck tops are my favorite tops to style necklaces with. They lend themselves to really make the necklace the focal point. Im always layering, so I usually opt for a shorter choker necklace, and then a mid-length necklace like my gold initial necklace or a necklace with a really pretty charm. You can also add a mid-length necklace with a larger design here without it looking too over styled, because the V-neck leaves plenty of room on your neck for that added visual interest.
STRAPLESS/ OFF THE SHOULDER TOPS
I love a minimalist look with necklaces when styling off the shoulder or strapless tops. I think my favorite would be just a simple dainty choker like this itty bitty heart choker Ive been wearing constantly. The daintier the better with this kind of neckline because I love keeping the chest, shoulders, and clavicle the focal point. . Adding a simple mid-length necklace works great too!
