How To Redeem Gold Points
Redeeming those sweet gold points is a very simple affair. You only need to go to the eShop and browse a game that youve been wanting to buy, and then select it.
When it shows the total value, you will have the option of using your points when you select Use points for a discount. The only caveat is that you can only use all of them at once, not a few for one purchase.
To note, there are Platinum Points, which are valued higher for Nintendo, and are earned when buying a console or filling out surveys, but they dont bring any relevance to your Switch. They can be used for certain online games like Super Mario Run, but thats it for now.
It would be great to redeem the gold points for an extra month of the Switch Online service for example, but as Nintendos Online methods leave a lot to be desired, its still nice to be rewarded for buying games, and then redeeming a new purchase through the gold points. Lets only hope that they can be given even more credence for the future.
Claim The Gold Points
You’ll be shown how many Gold Points are up for grabs before you claim them. They vary from game to game for example, Ring Fit Adventure gives you 70 points, while Ys Origin is only worth 18 points. This is because the amount is based on a percentage of the original retail price.

How To Save Big On Nintendo Games With Gold And Platinum Points
By16 December 2018
With a little legwork, you can cash in your Nintendo Platinum and Gold Points for substantial discounts on digital downloads.
From its oddly draconian Virtual Console to its daisy-chained voice chat, Nintendo’s walled- garden approach to online profiles tends to raise a few eyebrows. But, if you know how to navigate the Big N’s online space, you can make it work for you, and even save a little money in the process.
Nintendo Platinum Points and Nintendo Gold Points are two digital currencies that tie into a user’s My Nintendo account. When you first sign up for an account, you’ll get a brief message about how Gold Points can get you slight discounts on new digital games for example, 300 points will get you $3 off your next purchase. Useful, but not terribly exciting.
What’s much more interesting, though, is that with a little legwork, you can cash in your Platinum and Gold Points for substantial discounts on digital downloads. The deals come and go, so I can’t guarantee that you’ll find the exact game you want, at the exact time you want to buy it. But you can save up to 50 percent on some excellent titles, so it’s at least worth a look.
My Nintendo: Free Eshop Codes By Using Gold Point Offers
Nintendo allows you to earn MyNintendo points by completing missions. There are two types of My Nintendo points: Platinum Points and Gold Points.
Platinum points are earned for using various Nintendo services. These points can be redeemed for any reward that requires Platinum points.
Gold Points can be earned on select purchases for the Nintendo Switch system from Nintendo eShop or Nintendo.com.
Points can also be earned by purchasing packaged Nintendo Switch software. These points can be redeemed for any reward that requires Gold Points.
They can also be used to purchase eligible digital content from Nintendo eShop or from the official Nintendo website.
Whenever you get a new game, you earn Gold Points worth up to 5% of what you paid. You can then spend those points on your next digital purchase of any Nintendo Switch game to get it for less or even for free.
Gold Points can be earned for every new game you purchase. How many points you get depends on whether you purchased a game digitally, or have it on a game card.
You can earn Gold Points worth the following percentage of the price on Nintendo eShop:
While you cant really redeem your gold points for gift cards, you dont really need to. You can put them towards your next purchase in the Nintendo eShop.
Its a scenario where you have to spend a bit of money to make money.

How To Check Your Gold Points Expiration Date
Your Gold Points expire at the end of the month, one year after your game’s purchase date. For example, if you purchased Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild on March 5, 2017. Those points will expire on March 31, 2018. To see when your points are about to expire, visit your My Nintendo account online.

You Can Use Gold Points To Buy Your Nintendo Switch Online Subscription
The Nintendo Switch Online subscription service launches this week, and you will be pleased to know that you can use your My Nintendo Gold Points to discount the cost.
Gold Points can be used when purchasing a membership in the Nintendo eShop, Nintendo of America has confirmed in their Nintendo Switch Online Service FAQ. They cannot be used for auto-renewal.
You can earn Gold Points on My Nintendo by buying eligible games and downloadable content for Nintendo Switch, Wii U, and Nintendo 3DS, as a reward based on the amount that you have paid.
That will be 5 percent for digital purchases and 1 percent for physical purchases, which, as an example, would see you earn 250 Gold Points if you paid £49.99 for a game on the Nintendo eShop. These points would then be worth £2.50 in value and can be redeemed towards any game that you want to buy.
Its important to know that Gold Points will expire after 12 months on the last day of the month in which you earned them. And that subscriptions, passes, in-game items, virtual currency, or downloadable content on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS will not reward you with Gold Points.

My Favorite Nintendo Switch Gear For You
Ive played thousands of hours of Nintendo Switch, and I couldnt live without these Nintendo Switch accessories.
Theyve helped make my Nintendo Switch play sessions more comfortable and more enjoyable. These are affiliate links and if you decide to use them, Ill earn a commission from them. But candidly, these are the same gear and services myself, my spouse, and my friends love and use on a daily basis.
I suggest them all so check them out!
Theres Gold In Them Thar Skunks
Nintendo Everything let us know that you can currently get 30 Gold Points on My Nintendo by downloading The First Skunk Bundle to your Wii U console.
Gold Points are usually harder to obtain than the more common Platinum Points, and can only be earned by purchasing games through the eShop. The First Skunk Bundle has been discounted from its normal price of $24.99 to free, but for the moment it still qualifies for the Gold Points reward of the earlier price point.
Ive done this myself, and it does work. You may need a Wii U attached to your My Nintendo account in order to take advantage, but it cant hurt to try.
You can spend your ill-gotten gains as you please, but I would like to point out that 30 Gold coins is exactly enough to buy Metroid II: Return of Samus on the 3DS. Its the inspiration for the sublime AM2R: Another Metroid 2 Remake that was killed by lawyers last month. Like Twilight Princess Picross, Metroid II will be leaving the My Nintendo Rewards next Friday, September 30, so act now if youd like to try it.
