A Microsoft spokesperson also told TrueAchievementsAt this time, Xbox has decided to remove the 12 months Xbox Live Gold SKU from the Microsoft online Store. Customers can still sign up for a one month or three month Xbox Live Gold subscription online through the Microsoft Store.

There can be multiple reasons behind this move by Microsoft but the most obvious one is the Xbox Game Pass. With a 12-month gold subscription now out of the picture, the Game Pass will be the main focus for the company. Phil Spencer recently announced on the Xbox Wire,

Xbox Live Gold Vs Xbox Game Pass
Xbox Live Gold is an online subscription service for Xbox consoles, which was launched by Microsoft previously in 2002. For those who are thinking of purchasing this option, you need to remember that it is also included in the package of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
But, it is still cheaper than Xbox Game Pass since it only costs $10 per month. You can also have a discount if you purchase its service for a year or 12 months since you only need to pay $60.
As of the moment, if you want to play online games, you need to have Xbox Live Gold or Xbox Game Pass. However, this could soon change since Microsoft is planning to allow fans to play free-to-play games online. These include “Apex Legends,” “Fortnite,” and more.

Microsoft is cutting the price of Xbox Game Pass and Xbox Live Gold in three countries: Chile, Hong Kong, and Israel. While Xbox Live Gold is one of Microsofts first online services for its console platform, Xbox Game Pass is the companys much younger offering that launched in 2017. It’s already been marketed aggressively by Xbox, to the point where gaming accessories for American Girl dolls can be purchased, packed in with a subscription to the service. The video game subscription services offers a regularly-changing library of games for those who sign up to download and play on either Xbox and PC along with access to other services such as the aforementioned Xbox Live Gold, EA Play, and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
The company recently announced 13 new games for Xbox Game Pass, which includes eight day-one releases. Most of the new games have already been added to the subscription service over the past two weeks, with only a few more set to be made available over the next couple of days. The last three games that have yet to be added to Xbox Game Pass this month include Astria Ascending, Unsighted, and Phoenix Point. On the other hand, several titles have also been rotated out of the service including Drake Hollow, Ikenfell, Night in the Woods, Kathy Rain, and Warhammer Vermintide II.

Xbox Game Streaming Now Part Of Game Pass App On Android
From Sept. 15, 2020, Microsoft’s cloud gaming service, known as xCloud previously, became part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and is built into the Xbox Game Pass app on Android. Folks on iOS, Mac, Windows, and Linux can also take part, with Xbox Game Streaming available through the browser.
It adds another tick in the value box to Game Pass Ultimate over regular Game Pass, too. Games are added to the cloud library on a slightly different schedule to the console and PC, but regular additions are coming along.
Additionally, Microsoft has been working on dedicated touch controls for some of these games allowing you to play on your phone or tablet without the need for a controller.
