A Period Of Struggles
Due of the loss of key players such as Barry, Wilkes and Thurmond to trades and retirements, the Warriors struggled to put a competitive team on the court from 1978 to 1987 after being one of the NBA’s dominant teams in the 1960s and most of the 1970s. Through the NBA draft, however, they acquired some players such as high-scoring forward Purvis Short , former Purdue center Joe Barry Carroll and center Robert Parish , who was traded to the Boston Celtics in 1980 along with the draft pick that would become Kevin McHale for the pick used to draft Carroll. In 1983, the Warriors matched the New York Knicks’ offer for free-agent Bernard King, but, unable to pay his high salary, quickly traded him to the Knicks for guard Micheal Ray Richardson, whom they soon shipped to New Jersey in exchange for former Georgetown Hoya point guard Eric “Sleepy” Floyd, and journeyman forward Mickey Johnson. Floyd once scored 29 points for the Warriors in the fourth quarter of a playoff game against the Lakers, though he was later traded to the Houston Rockets.

Warriors’ Jonathan Kuminga: Strains Patella Tendon
Kuminga suffered a strained patella tendon in his right knee during Wednesday’s preseason game and will be re-evaluated in one week, Nick Friedell of ESPN.com reports.
Kuminga is presumably out for the remainder of the preseason, and his status for the regular-season opener Oct. 19 against the Lakers is in jeopardy. If the rookie is forced to miss time early in the season, more minutes could be available for Otto Porter, Moses Moody, Damion Lee and Andre Iguodala. The Warriors have a wealth of potential options, so it’s tough to know if there will be an actionable beneficiary in terms of upward fantasy production.
Warriors’ Klay Thompson: Expected To Practice In November
Thompson is expected to be cleared to return to full-contract practices within a month, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
The general expectation all along has been that Thompson would return to game action sometime around Christmas Day, but if he’s cleared for full contact by mid-November, that could set him on course for a slightly earlier return. Of course, Thompson has missed the last two full seasons with a pair of serious leg injuries, so the Warriors won’t rush him back until he’s 100 percent ready. Either way, this update has to be viewed through an encouraging lens for fantasy managers who’ve drafted Thompson to temporarily stash in an IR slot.

The Golden State Warriors and Phoenix Suns are the two best teams in the NBA to start the 2021-22 NBA season.

Golden State has three rotation players missing from action at the moment Jonathan Kuminga, Klay Thompson, and James Wiseman but they have already started the season on the right foot. On the shoulders of Stephen Curry, who is averaging 33 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists through two games , the Warriors have started a perfect 2-0.
But its not just that the Warriors have started the season 2-0 its how theyve started 2-0.
During the teams opener, the Warriors beat the new-look Los Angeles Lakers on the road in which Curry shot just 5-21 from the field. Thats likely not a game they win a season ago and certainly not one against a team that many projects to be a contender.
Then, two nights later, they outlasted and outscored the LA Clippers in their home opener. Curry wowed the crowd for what felt like the first time in ages. Curry finished with 45 points, which included his 25-point first quarter in which he went 9-9 from the field and 5-5 from 3-point range.
