Youve probably already pulled the trigger and bought a pair, or theyve been sitting in your shopping cart for months because you cant bring yourself to spend $500 on sneakers.
And if you have no clue what sneakers I am talking about, then you most likely just stopped in your tracks and screamed, $500?! FOR SNEAKERS?!
Yep, $500..for sneakers. But let me justify.
I get on here a lot to discuss the why when it comes to investment pieces. Ive justified handbags, black boots, and most recently, a Veronica Beard blazer . Im not the kindof gal to randomly drop a chunk of change on just anything. I grew up counting my pennies and take every dollar thats in my bank account seriously. And the older I have gotten, I have discovered that I would rather own QUALITY, INVESTMENT pieces than a bunch of shitty, fast fashion. Whos with me on that?!
But even after I tried them on, I still didnt make the financial plunge. I knew I liked the appearance, I knew I loved the fit, and I knew what size I wore .so now all I had to do was wait for a style I liked to go on sale! Fast forward about 60 days, and I got an email from The Outnet saying that they would be launching Golden Goose sneakers sale the following Tuesday.so I got on their site bright early that morning and finally snagged a white pair with gold & silver glitter accents for around $200!
Golden Goose Sneakers: Are They Worth It
Every time I share a look that includes Golden Goose sneakers, I always get asked if theyre worth the price. Everyone has different price points theyre willing to pay for items they know theyll wear over and over again, and for me, Golden Goose sneakers are definitely worth the price. Here are a few reasons why I love them and think if youre on the fence about them, theyre totally worth it!
The style is classic
I love Golden Goose sneakers so much and continue to invest in them because I dont see them going out of style anytime soon. Theyre a great, classic white sneaker, which makes them so versatile. Speaking of versatility
You can dress them up or down
One of the best features of these sneakers is how you can dress them up or down. One day you can wear them with joggers, and the next with a cute sweater dress. It brings the cost per wear way down, which is something I always consider when Im buying designer items with a steeper price tag. For example, if an item costs $500 but I know Ill easily wear it 10+ times, that means Im paying $50 or less each time I wear it. The cost per wear of any of my Golden Goose sneakers is probably down to less than $10 per wear because thats how often I reach for them!
Why I Say But
It depends on your budget, obviously. For some, the price tag will simply not be worth it, if things like bills, rent, or other necessities need to come first.
It depends on how much wear youll get out of them. Like I suggest doing with ALL investment purchases, really ask yourself if you would get a good cost per wear out of them. If youre a sneakers girl, youll probably have a lot more wears out of a pair of sneakers and therefore they might be worth it for you. If you rarely wear sneakers, they might not be the smartest investment for you.
There are a lot of more budget-friendly options out there that resemble the original Golden Goose sneaker. In fact, I wrote an entire post on Statement Sneakers At All Price Points. Youll see in that post that you dont need to spend Golden Goose money on a similar look if you dont want to. HOWEVER, dont just buy dupes if theyre just going to sit on your shoe shelf. If theyre not your style, just bypass it all together to eliminate waste and needless donations down the road! Just because its trendy doesnt mean you need to hop on the train!
If youre in the market for a pair now, I recommend taking a look at Net-a-Porter and Farfetch. I find that they have the widest variety and carries quite a bit in regard to inventory. SSense is another great retailer to find Golden Goose on aside from the usual Shopbop and Nordstrom.

Which Style To Buy
I currently own three pairs of Golden Goose sneakers. I started with the basic distressed white one and ended up adding two more statement options to my collection. Although I love them all, the leopard pair has to be my favorite. Its also the one I get asked about most. Theyre so chic and statement-making, which is perfect for me since I wear a lot of neutrals. They always stand out against my outfits. Net-A-Porter currently has the best price on them . Ive also been coveting the newer tan and camel ones . Those are great because you can wear them with anything.
Post Sticker Shock Thoughts
Once I got over my sticker shock, I asked a few of my girlfriends what they loved about their Golden Goose sneakers. Every single one of them said the same things:
I could 100% relate to these! My favorite sneakers are my Reebok Classic Lace Up Joggers, but they get dirty in a hot second! I have to clean them monthly, or they wont last.
Once I started to listen to their points on why Golden Goose Sneakers were worth it to them, I started to second guess my initial disgust in overpriced sneakers. I wear sneakers at least four days a week, I have insanely sensitive feet , and I was over cleaning my white sneakers! Clearly I became interested in making a purchase.

Two of the most common questions people ask about Golden Goose sneakers are, do Golden Goose sneakers run small? and how do Golden Goose sneakers fit? In general, GGDB sneakers fit true to size. They only come in European whole sizes, so I recommend sticking to your corresponding US size. There arent half sizes, so if youre between sizes, size up if you plan on wearing them with thin, no-show socks.

Golden Goose Vs P448 Sneakers
I have been wearing P448 sneakers for several years now and had never owned a pair of Golden Goose sneakers until I actually won this pair recently playing bingo with Neiman Marcus . I thought I would put together a compare and contrast list for you guys because theyre so similar, yet the price point is quite different.
Where P448 wins:
The cost is so much better. Plus they go on sale pretty frequently.
I find them equally comfortable to Golden Goose.
They are a little newer looking from the start, which I truthfully prefer as a slightly more mature look.
Where Golden Goose wins:
The shoes arent as wide. They are visually slimmer which just gives a more flattering look on leg .
They do have a little heel lift thanks to their well known secret hidden wedge. This not only adds some support but also a boost to elongate the legs. And honestly why arent more designers of flats doing this!? Brilliant.
I think their designs are more unique and interesting.
All in all, I dont know that Golden Gooses are still worth it enough to justify the twice as much price point. Am I thrilled I won a complimentary pair in the most fabulous game of bingo of my life? Absolutely. But I dont know that I would have paid my own money for them.

Some people love the glitter and crazy designs, but for me, my favorite things about GG arent as well known. First off, did you know they elongate your leg? Im 53 so give me all the elongating! They have a hidden wedge inside the shoe that you dont see. This offers support and is actually why people say GG are so comfortable. I have worn them in New York walking for miles and never once feel discomfort. These arent cushion-y shoes, but they are extremely supportive with the wedge. The other benefit is that they elongate your leg without looking like a chunky wedge sneaker. This is a reason you see so many people wear these with dresses, not only are they fun to mesh with your personal style, they can be flattering as a flat with a midi dress, etc.

You want an honest Golden Goose review? Youre about to get an honest Golden Goose review. In the words of Shania Twain, lets go girls. Never did I ever think that Id be the fool dropping a rent payment on a pair of sneakers. Likethats ridiculous. So lets get that out there in the open from the get go Golden Goose sneakers are ridiculous.
Absurd, really.
I mean, theyre sneakers with a star on the side that are MADE to look DIRTY, and then sold for $500+. Absurd I tell ya!
And honestly, I used to mock them. I thought only a snob sneezing dollars would have the audacity to spend that much money on dirty sneakers, because they couldnt possibly be good, let alone great.

Golden Goose Sneakers Is It Worth The Money
For those that are unaware of who or what the golden goose sneakers are, they are made by Golden Goose Delux Brand. GGDB was born in 2000 by two merging Venetian designers Francesca Rinaldo and Alessandro Gallo.
Fast forward to now, they have one of the most coveted skater looking sneakers out there. GGDB is all about the vintage feeling and combines the West Coast skater cool with Italian cobbling excellence via SCMP. .
I mean I get it, they look dirty, old, and something that has gone through hell and back. BUT, I decided to take one for the team ? and buy myself a pair of golden goose sneakers. I couldnt find myself to buy the $500 pair, but I did find my pink pair on sale for under $400.
But are they worth it?!
Well, I guess that depends on who you ask. For me, I am still a little shocked that I actually paid that much for a worn out, and dirty looking sneakers. Do they look cool? Yes . But are they reallllly worth it? I cant decide, honestly!
Whats my take on them?
At first, they were VERY stiff. I have tried to wear them several times to see if I can break them in, and its slooowly getting there. The first two times I wore them they hurt, like really hurt.
The inside of the shoes has this cloth material that rubs on my toes wrong and does make them a bit uncomfortable. I have been wearing these barefooted, and am on the hunt for some thin no-show socks. Hopefully, having socks on will make them better.
