Golden Knights’ Jack Eichel Undergoes Successful Surgery

Jack Eichel Ready To Start Next Chapter Of Career With Golden Knights

After months and months of waiting, Vegas Golden Knights forward Jack Eichel has finally undergone surgery. The artificial disk-replacement procedure was completed Friday by Dr. Chad Prusmack, according to Jeff Marek of Sportsnet, and early reports are that it went well.

Eichel now faces a rehabilitation timeline that he has suggested could be as short as three months but is uncertain at this point because of the surgery in question. The procedure had never been done on an NHL player before Eichel, which was part of the concern of the Buffalo Sabres who had blocked it through the offseason. The Sabres eventually found a package they liked enough to trade Eichel to Vegas last week, acquiring Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs along with draft picks for their former captain.

Currently on injured reserve, it will be a battle for the Golden Knights to get Eichel back onto the active roster before the end of the season. Not only does the injury timeline come with plenty of uncertainty, but so too does their cap situation. With Eichel, , Max Pacioretty and Jake Bischoff currently on LTIR, the team is exceeding the $81.5M cap ceiling by more than $11M. Activating the entire group would be impossible without making other transactions to open a good amount of cap space, moves that could not simply be waiving or sending down the fringe players on their roster.

Logos Colors And Uniforms

The team’s primary logo is a barbute helmet, superimposed on a black and gold shield, with a V-shaped opening. The secondary logo is two crossing swords behind a red star, designed to resemble the star found on the landmark Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign.

The team’s primary color is steel gray, which is said to represent “strength and durability”. The other team colors are gold, red , and black .

The first uniforms in Golden Knights team history were unveiled publicly on June 20, 2017. Home uniforms are steel gray with black, gold and red stripes, while road uniforms are white with steel gray, gold and red stripes. Shoulders feature the alternate swords logo. On October 2, 2020, the Golden Knights introduced a gold alternate uniform, essentially a palette swap of the road uniforms with gold and white switching places. Golden Knights Outlast Canucks In Game 7 Advance To Conference Final

Shea Theodore was the first one to solve Thatcher Demko in the series and it would prove to be enough as the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Vancouver Canucks in Game 7 and advance to the Western Conference finals.

EDMONTON — The Vegas Golden Knights finally found a crack in the stone wall of Vancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko, firing shot after shot at him Friday until — finally — one puck went bar down to knock the last Canadian team out of the NHL playoffs.

Shea Thedore scored on a wrist shot through traffic late in the third period to break a scoreless tie, and Vegas added two more into an empty net to beat the Canucks in the seventh and deciding game of their playoff series at Rogers Place.

“That goalie was just unbelievable. It was just hard to get one past him,” Vegas forward Jonathan Marchessault.

” right off the bat we just knew it was our game tonight. And we kept going no matter what adversity we were going to face, if it was killing penalties or a hot goalie, we just kept going, staying positive in the locker room.

“And it paid off.”

The Golden Knights will face the Dallas Stars in the Western Conference championship.

Demko kept the Canucks in the game, which saw Vancouver outshot 36-14, in a third consecutive game of puck-stopping heroics.

“There were times it felt like we could have played for six hours and not scored on ,” said Vegas head coach Peter DeBoer.

It was the fifth game in seven nights for both teams.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Chandler Stephenson and Mark Stone each had a goal and an assist, and the Vegas Golden Knights beat the Nashville Predators 5-2 Wednesday night.

Jonas Rondbjerg, Adam Brooks and Alex Pietrangelo also scored for Vegas, and Robin Lehner stopped 26 shots.

I really liked our game tonight Vegas coach Pete DeBoer said. We played an honest, good hard-working road game.

Filip Forsberg scored two late goals for Nashville after ending a nine-game injury absence. Juuse Saros made 30 saves.

Stephenson skated low into the slot to beat Saros with a wrist shot low to his stick side for the first goal of the game with 48 seconds left in the first period. Stone assisted on the goal.

We were close to not getting rewarded for the work we put in, DeBoer said. I thought we had some good looks in the first and played well enough to be up. But the first one takes some pressure off you.

At 3:01 of the second period, Vegas extended the lead to 2-0 when Rondbjerg stole the puck in the Predators zone and scored on a breakaway with a wrist shot over Saros left shoulder.

The Golden Knights scored again at 11:12 of the third when Brooks found Saros out of position to his right side and put a wrist shot from the top of the crease into the open side of the net. Keegan Kolesar and Mattias Janmark assisted.

Nashville found the net at 5:20 of the third period when Forsberg scored on a breakway, beating Lehner with a backhand to his stick side. Matt Duchene assisted.

LAS VEGAS Mark Stone had two goals and Max Pacioretty scored the winner as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the Dallas Stars 5-4 on Wednesday night.

Vegas won its third in a row while bringing an abrupt end to Dallas seven-game win streak.

Trailing by two goals in the third period, the Golden Knights used three unanswered goals and scored at least five times for the fourth time in six games.

Trailing the Stars 4-2, Michael Amadio made it a one-goal game with his second of the season, and Stone told his teammates on the bench that was the break they needed, and it was time to feed off that momentum.

I just looked at the boys and kind of had that feeling that we were going to find a way to get it done, said Stone, who soon after punched home his second of the night to tie the game.

Pacioretty then netted the go-ahead goal with a little more than four minutes left, extending his point streak to six games since returning from the injured list. It was his fifth goal in four games.

Thats just an example of why he is our captain in taking charge out there, Pacioretty said of Stone. Obviously, the second goal by him is really what gives us life and gives us the opportunity to win a game.

Jonathan Marchessault, playing in his 300th game as a Golden Knight, also scored.

Vegas starting goaltender Robin Lehner made seven saves before being pulled in the second period after allowing three goals. Laurent Brossoit stopped 12 of the 13 shots he faced.

Cup Or Bust For The Captain

He, of all people, learned that the hard way against Montreal when he didnt score a single point in the semifinal series.

Being the captain comes with the glory of being the first person to touch the Stanley Cup. It also comes with the agony of having to answer why your team fell two wins shy of reaching the Stanley Cup Final.

I learned a lot about simple things in the playoffs. Regular season went pretty smoothly. Its a different animal when you get to the playoffs with pressure, Stone said. We know what to do as a team going forward and well execute that.

Stone had the best season of his career with 61 points, missing only one game. He was a finalist for the Selke Trophy for a second time and ninth in the Hart Trophy voting.

The captain had eight points through 12 playoff games, including the historic game-winning goal in Game 5 at Colorado. The last seven, though, Stone went pointless and was a minus-4 in the Montreal series. A lot of forwards went cold in that Montreal series. Stone was the biggest eye-raiser.

I think weve added a lot of good pieces up front, Stone said We dont even have out there yet and we still feel deep. Once he comes back, its going to be the best forward group Ive ever played on. Were going to have guys when other guys arent playing at the top of their game step in and score goals. Were going to have a hard group to defend on a nightly basis.

Game : Avalanche 3 Golden Knights 2

Can Vegas slow Colorados top line again? Will there be changes down the lineup?: In Game 3, how will the Avalanche respond to the Golden Knights defensive tweaks?

Anxiety level: zero: Colorado goalie Philipp Grubauer was calm, even as he faced 41 shots and had to keep the Avalanche in the game long enough for Mikko Rantanen to score in overtime.

Better, but not good enough: Vegas showed it could match up with Colorado, and did a lot of things well in Game 2, but the Golden Knights still arent scoring enough. Heres what we learned from Game 2.

The Vegas Golden Knights Injury Bug Is No Secret To Teams Around The League However They Also Know That Things Are Starting To Look Up For The Knights After Being Able To Get Captain Mark Stone Back And Max Pacioretty Things Have Begun To Really Click However There Is Another Name That Is Close To Returning For The Knights: Nolan Patrick

Nolan Patrick was a former first-round pick made by the Philadelphia Flyers in 2017. However, unfortunately for the Flyers, that pick didnt quite pan out for them. After selecting him second overall in the NHL entry draft, his stint with them was quite vague. Thats where the Vegas Golden Knights come into play.

This past off-season the Vegas Golden Knights made a trade to acquire the center from the Flyers as a part of a three team trade. The Vegas Golden Knights received Nolan Patrick from the Flyers which doesnt exactly fit the Knights m.o. or does it?

I stated in my recent article about how William Karlsson never quite lived up to the hype while he was in Columbus, but he ultimately found a place to re-start his career with the Knights. Same goes for center, Chandler Stephenson.

Chandler Stephenson was a third-round selection by the Washington Capitals in 2012. However, after a rough stretch with the Capitals, he was claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights in the expansion draft. Since that point, he has continued to grow as a player which has led to an increase in production.

The Vegas Golden Knights, after seeing what they were able to do with both Karlsson and Stephenson, they have begun to target players with high upside. That fits Nolan Patrick too a tee. Patrick was supposed to be a cornerstone piece for the Flyers but hasnt quite lived up to that. However, he hasnt quite had the opportunity for it.

Golden Knights Brayden Mcnabb: Injured In Preseason Opener

NHL Game Highlights | Golden Knights vs. Wild Mar. 10, 2021

McNabb didnt finish Sundays preseason game against the Sharks, Jesse Granger of The Athletic reports.

The Golden Knights were without McNabb, Shea Theodore and Mark Stone by the end of the night. Further updates on their statuses should surface prior to the teams next preseason tilt, Tuesday against the Avalanche. McNabb was tripped down on his final shift, so his absence is likely linked to that play.

Wild Golden Knights: Stories To Watch

Kirill the Thrill and the no-longer-mild

Whether they were reaching or missing the playoffs, the Wild havent always lived up to their team name at least in the sense of excitement. Instead, their defensive-minded approach understandably often branded them as the Mild.

While the Wild still usually play good-to-great defense, Kirill Kaprizovs changed their trajectory. In the past, a casual fan of the sport might see the Wild on the schedule and groan. Now, theyre more likely to flip over to see what golden opportunity Kaprizov might create on any given night.

Beyond the more practical benefits of the Calder-lock-winger, hes simply made Minnesota a lot more fun.

With that in mind, its easier to picture the Wild beating the Golden Knights even if the series is played at the sort of hectic pace the franchise historically preferred to avoid.

We find that when you play good teams like , great teams, you raise up your play a little bit and just had emotional games against them, Wild winger said, via the Athletics Michael Russo . Its always been fun . Its always been back and forth and physical and heavy. So, it suits us well.

Wild won season series vs. Golden Knights

Honestly, in most years, head-to-head series stats dont mean a ton . When people really emphasize it, there could even be some eye rolls.

How healthy is Vegas?

Scan Rotoworlds injury page and youll see that Vegas is dealing with a higher quantity and quality of injuries than Minnesota.
