Targeting Gold Is More Lucrative Than What You May Think

This is something not many people talk about!

In fact, as Ive said before gold is in most cases found in soil rich in minerals! And in such ground conditions it is pretty common to find gemstones, yes you hear me right gemstones!

And when I talk about gems, I mean:

  • Diamond: It is a concentrated form of carbon that you can commonly come across in places like former volcanic eruptions or in volcanic pipes or black sand or just highly mineralized soil in general. Its value depends on the carbon particles you can see inside, the bigger they are the lower the diamonds value is In fact, 1 carats worth is between 2k up to 8k dollars which is significant money period!
  • Periot: It is a beautiful green gem. It is also called Olivine its worth can be up to 1K a carat for the most quality ones.
  • Sapphire: This one has a breathtaking sea blue color that I personally appreciate It could be found in other colors but the blue is the most common one! For its worth, I dont have an accurate number, yet in 2014 a 392 carat sapphire gem was sold for a record number or 17 million dollars! Which is huge you can do the math!
  • Garnet: it has another color that I like, dark red This gem is considered as a much better indicator for diamond than gold! In other words, if you come across this gem, chances are, you are pretty close to some diamond! The price range starts from 500 dollars a carat and it could reach 1K up to 2K for the most quality ones.

Do Metal Detectors Detect Gold The Best Metal Detectors For Finding Gold

Want to find gold while metal detecting? Yes, there are many metal detectors that can detect gold! Heres how to find gold while metal detecting.

One of the most common questions Im asked all of the time is, Do Metal Detectors Detect Gold? The answer, is YES! However, not all metal detectors are created equal, and some are going to do a lot better job at finding gold than others.

If you are new to metal detecting or what to know if its even possible to find good things like gold nuggets or gold jewelry, the most important thing to know is there are different types of detectors with different purposes.

Metal detectors typically sense the electrical magnetic field of an item underground. However, its is important to understand that a metal detectors is not simply a glorified magnet because the most valuable precious metals are not magnetic.

So How Deep Will My Gold Prospecting Metal Detector Go

Makro Gold Racer 56kHz Detector

A better question might be how deep do you really need to go? Modern prospecting detectors can discover gold as small as a half a grain. As the size of the target becomes larger, gold nuggets can be located at significantly greater depths. A single grain nugget can be unearthed at a depth of 1-2 inches. A match head size nugget can be located at a depth of 3-5 inches. A nugget the size of a US half dollar can be located at depths of 9-11 inches. Larger nuggets can be located at depths over a foot with a Pulse Induction style detector.

Start The Gold Hunt With Metal Detector

Pick a day that you can entirely spend for gold hunting. Finish packing the necessities and keep your to-do list empty for the day.

· After reaching the destination, set up the equipment, and get ready to search for gold.

· While combing the land, keep the detector a couple of feet away from you and try to keep the coils side to side and closer to the ground try not to sweep in a pendulum pattern while youâre at it, it covers less area.

· To prevent missing small-deposits between your swept area, sweep in an overlapping manner. Also be prepared to dig deep if you catch any signal. It is highly unlikely for gold to be found in small swaths.

· Try to walk in a straight line and slowly. Be cautious of the metal detector to not to touch the ground maintain more or less 6-inch distance from the surface and the sensor.

Myth Four: Metal Detectors Can Only Find Ferrous Metals

Just to review, ferrous metals are metals that contain iron metals like iron, and steel. We do not know where this idea came from, but we have heard people voicing it. In fact, metal detectors can find non-ferrous metals that include gold, silver, and even aluminum. If it is made of metal, your metal detector can find it.

Gold Nuggets Vs Gold Grains

If you are planning to hunt for gold, you should decide if you want to look for tiny grains or if you are going to be hunting for larger nuggets. Typically, a machine that can detect smaller grains is less expensive than those that would be able to reach the depths and size of larger nuggets.

Small grains can often be found in the top one to two inches of the ground in gold-rich areas, and that is why this is a big difference. Larger nuggets, on the other hand, can be found at depths of five inches or more due to the settling of these larger materials.

A pulse induction machine can find gold at depths of well over one foot, but they are also not very discerning, so they will detect many other things along the way as well!

How to Find GOLD: Minelab SDC 2300 Metal Detector

Most major manufacturers of metal detectors offer gold specific metal detectors. These detectors can range in price from around $100 to well over $1,000. It really depends on your knowledge level pertaining to metal detecting, your preferences, and your budget. Bounty Hunter is a well-known manufacturer of metal detectors. Their models are typically less expensive than other manufacturers but are more tailored to beginning detectorists. These models are generally simple to use and can give users a good overview of metal detecting.

Bounty Hunter makes a model for gold called the Bounty Hunter Gold Digger. This inexpensive model operates at the lowest frequency on this list, at just 6.7 kHz. This is not an ideal range for finding gold, but it if the nuggets are large enough, it will still find them. This is a good option for anyone on a budget or hesitant to spend a lot on a more upgraded model. I would recommend a higher-grade model for those serious about prospecting, though.

Fisher Labs makes a great model called the Fisher Gold Bug Pro. This model is a mid-priced, VLF detector that operates at 19 kHz. This is a good frequency to find gold. The Gold Bug Pro features many advanced technologies and continuous ground readout to show soil mineralization. This can be helpful as gold is typically found in areas with high soil mineralization and hot rocks. These can throw a detector off quite a bit, and the Gold Bug does a great job of compensating.

Factors Affecting The Detection

There are certain factors that play a role in the detection of a specific element, the most imperative of which are mentioned here.

  • The first thing is the frequency. Frequency is the number of cycles produced in a signal over a certain period of time. The frequency of a metal detector is one of the main attributes to detect an object.
  • The conductivity rate and size of a targeted object play a role in the detection of an element.
  • Similarly, the type of soil and the ground has an effect, and it varies depending on the individual condition.
  • The other important thing is the ground balance or the depth at which the target material is located and the depth at which the electromagnetic waves can reach. Depth again varies on the particular material, size, shape, and orientation.

How Do Metal Detectors Detect Gold

Do you know what a metal detector is? Is there anything more enjoyable than metal detectors? I guess no because it unfolds many historical treasures that are buried underground. Most people have seen metal detectors in the shopping mall, stations, airport, etc. It can be used for military or security purposes and to find or detect any unusual object like guns, bombs, etc. Many people do not know how it is used to detect metal, gold, etc. So in this article, we will give a brief review of how do metal detectors work.

Keep The Environment Clean

Underground Metal Detector Metal Finder Gold Detector Treasure Hunter ...

Try to do least possible damage to land and property. No one wants to see dug-ups all over their place.

· Put the plug back in its place. It takes only a few seconds. And the whole point of cutting plugs is also so you could put it back quickly and help the ground heal fast.

· Remember to remove all the trash you found in the area.

Finally, try to expect realistically. You canât possibly hit big in your first hunt. Keep patience and enjoy the rush. Youâre sure to have your expectations touched one day if you keep trying.

Gold And Silver Have Signature Responses To Metal Detectors

What allowed the detectors to distinguish between metals is the fact that each metal has a different phase response when exposed to alternating current longer waves penetrate deeper into the ground and target highly conductive targets such as silver and copper compared to shorter waves , which, although less penetrating into the ground, select low conductivity targets such as iron.

This selectivity or discrimination has allowed the development of detectors capable of selectively detecting desired metals while ignoring unwanted ones.

It is important to note that sometimes overuse of the Discrimination feature can actually block the display of certain gold signals on the metal detector. As with metal detectors designed for gold prospecting, the Fisher Gold Bug offers a variety of ground balance options, giving you maximum control over your detector regardless of soil mineralization.

Personally, I like to use small coils that will still detect gold at incredible depths if you set up your detector correctly. And since detectors mostly react to electrically conductive elements, you can find them very easily. The larger the coil, the deeper it will be detected, but it will have less sensitivity to small targets.

Which Metals Can Metal Detectors Detect

Contents

Metal detectors are excellent devices for finding hidden metal treasures, but before you start hunting, its good to have an idea of what metals your detector can and cannot find.

Metal detectors can detect ferrous and non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, brass, steel and gold to varying different levels with some being more conductive than others.

In our short informational guide below we will discuss the types of metals there are, how different metal detection works, the non-ferrous types of metals and ferrous metals which can be detected and how to tweak the sensitivity settings on your detector according to different metals.

What Are The Countries Where You Can Easily Find Gold Hot Spots

First of all, this little map gives you a general idea on where you will have better chances of finding Gold nuggets:

For example, in Africa, chances dont seem to be that promising unless you head to south-Africa!

Other than that, the most promising countries without a doubt are:

  • USA
  • Canada
  • China

As a detectorist, I will remove from this short list Russiaand China! Why did I do so? Simply because their laws are pretty much against us unless youve got some kind of permit that will allow you to use your machine their

However USA, Australia and Canada laws favorite the practice of this hobby as far as you are not violating their guidelines. Thats why you can easily hope to come across some nuggets that will put some serious cash into your pocket!

For example in the US, Nevada and South Carolina are the most notorious states with gold producing mines!

Other than these counties there are few others that are also promising, such as:

  • Peru
  • Mexico
  • And Ghana

To be honest, I am still making some researches to figure out the laws regarding our hobby in these countries! I will publish that in the next few Blog Posts

Also, check these amazing countries where you can use your metal detector!

Gold Jewelry Vs Gold Nuggets

What type of gold do you want to find? If you are hoping to find real, pure gold, the above information is what you should pay the most attention to.

If you are searching for gold jewelry like 14k necklaces or 24k earrings, you might not need a metal detector that is as high-end as those explained above. While gold jewelry has a high percentage of real gold in it, they are not made out of pure gold. Instead, gold jewelry is mixed with other metals and materials to create a more durable final product.

Since jewelry is a mixed-component metal in this way, its likely that even a VLF, single-frequency detector that you can afford on a budget will be able to find it! In fact, this type of metal detector is recommended as the best type for finding coins and jewelry.
