Despite its name, new Venetian Gold granite has nothing in common with Italy. The granite is quarried in Brazil and is also known as Brazilian Gold, San Tropez, Vecchia Oro or Yellow Ornamental. You Can Make Your 90s Granite Disappear

73% off your perfect Granite New Venetian Gold countertop ...

So first, notice I didnt say 80s granite even though there are lots of unpainted oak kitchens today with granite countertops that were installed in the 90s and onwards. FYI, if you did that without painting your cabinets, you would likely end up with a new granite, old kitchen look, because we werent doing granite countertops in the 80s.

However, if you do have pink beige or earthy granite and you want to create a new and current look, painting your cabinets a deep colour works well to downplay the stone and create an upscale look. This way you can extend the life of your dated granite for another 10 years as long as this look is trending.

See how the arched display cabinet perfectly echos the arch of the black window AND the window design as well! Really clever. Ive seen a lot more arches lately in doors and windows, have you been noticing that too?

While the blue green grey colour feels a bit like the grey trend, , these cabinets could just as easily have been a muted navy or a deep green, red or violet based colour too for a similar effect.

Notice, that the uppers were removed on either side of the window.

Thats what will make an average, builder kitchen feel a lot more current.

A dark colour for your cabinets is definitely something to consider if you want to work with dated earthy granite.

If you want to update your backsplash, it will depend on what colour your cabinets are , but generally speaking

  • With WOOD CABINETS, I would look at gray or green-blue tiles. White would be awfully stark

Whats The Best Type Of Backsplash To Update New Venetian Gold Granite

Just like with Cecilia, youll want to make a good colour connection when it comes to your backsplash

  • Soft off-white tiles that DIRECTLY match the soft white in your countertop. For a subtle look, match it with warm white grout. If you want to add some visual interest, choose a light to medium-depth grout that matches the taupe in the countertop
  • Taupe tiles that have the same purple undertones as the flecks in your countertop. For this look, I would do a soft white grout to add a bit of contrast and visual interest
  • A lot of people look to travertine, but MOST travertine tiles have the wrong undertones for New Venetian Gold and Santa Cecilia

Choose Your Dark Colours Carefully

Still, be cautious if you want to try this. It wont work for every kitchen. The darker the colour, the more it shows finger prints and dust, just like dark espresso floors and cabinets did. And be especially careful with trendy, heavy black.

Its more likely for stark, inky black cabinets to look like trendy new painted black cabinets in an old kitchen. In other words, black is more likely to make your earthy granite look old. Stick with softer darks in muted warm neutrals, blues, greens and slates if you want to try this look for your kitchen.

Will Granite Be Back In Style

Absolutely, yes. I think itll be back in style when the public taste pendulum swings back to warmer colors. I dont think the blotchy builder-grade granites will be back for a very long time, though. When tastes head back to warm, I would imagine there would be new kinds of granite that show up that feel fresh and new. Quartz will stay in style as well, because it can be made to match any color preference or taste.

Can We Talk About New Venetian Gold Granite Please

In my soon-to-be new kitchen, I plan to have creamy off-white cabinets. For countertops, my husband and I both liked the sample in the showroom of New Venetian Gold granite. In the near future, we hope to go to the granite yard and see our slab in person.

In the meantime, can anyone share any info, experience, photos, etc., regarding this particular granite? I’d like to know if you like it or not… and why.

And if you have it in your home, can you show me some pictures, please?

And one more question… what color to paint the walls?!! Our home is a Cape Cod style, very light and airy and “cottage-y” looking, with rooms all painted in colors of the sea.

Thank you very much!

  • Is Venetian Gold Easy To Maintain

    New Venetian Gold

Granite adds a luxurious appearance to any kitchen but is also ideal for its long lasting qualities and minimal upkeep. Manufacturers apply epoxy resin to the natural stone during the polishing process, filling any porous areas to ensure the structure.

This high-density material is durable enough to withstand everyday kitchen use, in fact, Venetian Gold is highly resistant to heat, scratches, and stains.

Also, the granites patterns and light color scheme hide excessive fingerprints and dirt reasonably well.

The smooth, polished countertop makes cleaning a breeze. It is important to use a non-abrasive natural stone cleaner or mild soap and warm water when needed.

For preservation, experts recommend resealing the granite once a year, which is a simple and quick process.

Chris Loves Julia did just that in their Phase One kitchen renovation and I love how it turned out. The moody blue-green-gray helps the countertops almost disappear! The lighting and accessories also help make the brown granite countertops feel more intentional – hints of brass and warm wood caught my eye as great details that add to the overall look.

Buying Granite From A Big Chain Vs Fabricator

As I mentioned before, you can find granite countertops in big home improvement stores, such as Lowes and Home Depot. The problem with shopping there is two fold:

There is not a lot of variety in terms of colors and stone grades. They usually stock up on low to mid range quality granite, with rather limited color options. 20-30 colors is what you will find in most big chain stores. However, they tend to overcharge for these basic colors!

These stores overcharge for installation. They act as the middle man, and hire small fabricators to do your installation. They pay low installation fees to the fabricator and take a huge chunk for processing and managing the order.

Thus, its much better to go to a local stone fabricator. You have a lot more colors and styles to choose from, including high end and exotic stones. On the other hand, lower-end varieties of granite will cost less here, and you will have more negotiating power.

Another perk is that a fabricator will work with you personally to advise you on a granite slab that fits your needs and budget. They will also come out to create a unique layout of your slab, based on your specifications.

    How To Measure Granite Countertops

    New Venetian Gold Countertops

Before getting a quote for installing granite countertops using an online calculator or from local granite fabricators you’ll want to know the total area or “square footage” of your countertop.

Of course, in Canada, Europe, and many other countries you may use square meters. The idea here is to use the measurement commonly used by local fabricators.

    Here’s how:

    • Break down countertop into square or rectangular sections
    • If you have unique shapes like round or triangular – treat them like square sections
    • Include areas for sink and cooktop
    • Measure length & depth of each section in inches
    • Multiple length X depth of each section to calculate the area in square inches for each section
    • Add together the sum of each section to achieve the total countertop area in square inches
    • Divide this total by 144 to convert sq. in. into square feet
    • Round up to the next whole number square foot
    • Backsplash is calculated in the same way. Measure length x height of backsplash
    • Add together the sum of all sections measured in inches and divide by 144 to calculate square footage
    • Youâll also want to calculate the linear feet of the countertop edge. This number will be used to quote the cost of creating your desired edge profile
    • Measure the length of all outside finished edges in inches, divide by 12 and round up to the nearest whole number for linear feet
