Using a Flash Pass at Six Flags is a convenient way to enjoy more rides during a trip to the amusement park. A Flash Pass usually comes in the form of a Q-Bot that you are supposed to make reservations on and keep with you as you enjoy the park. The cost of a Flash Pass is more than the regular admission, but park-goers who use the pass typically ride more attractions and wait in line for less time.

Is It Worth It

Lex Luthor: Drop of Doom

Heres the bottom line: Whether Flash Pass is worth buying or not largely depends on what day youre visiting the park.

Check out your Six Flags parks Crowd Calendar forecast to find out which days Flash Pass is a good idea and when you should probably just save your money.

Generally, if youre going to Six Flags during the off-season, like in May, the end of August, or September, it may not be worth it at all. Its simply hard to justify dropping cash on Flash Passes to skip a 5-10 minute line. In fact, Six Flags parks are virtually empty some days of the year , with walk-ons to many rides.

Go to Six Flags during the summer season, however, and that pricey Flash Pass can be a lifesaver. It ends up being almost a necessity on days when wait times stretch to 1-2 hours.

When to Buy:

  • Ghost Town or Hey, Its Alright days on Crowd Calendar
  • Rainy days/inclement weather

Keep in mind that you can always wait until you arrive at Six Flags to assess how bad the lines are and purchase Flash Passes inside the park if needed. We dont recommend doing this on days that are very likely to be crowded though , as there will be a long line at the Flash Pass Center and passes may sell out.

Skip A Six Flags Membership If You Dont Plan On Visiting Often

Of course, a Six Flags membership can get your goodies and savings on all kinds of things at Six Flags, BUT itll cost you. Unlike a season pass where you pay one time, a membership requires monthly payments for a minimum of one year. That means paying your monthly fee even during the off-season.

The only way to make up for the cold winter months is to use your membership and visit Six Flags as much as you can during the season. You can cancel your membership anytime after 12 months.

How Does It Work

It’s simple to use THE FLASH Pass. Head to the distribution center at the park on the day of your visit to pick up the wearable, watch-like device.

Known as LoQueue, users swipe its screen either vertically or horizontally to use the system. Guests can scroll through the available attractions, which are listed alphabetically, and can swipe one they would like to ride. The gadget will show the reservation time and notify users when it is time to ride. You can arrive anytime after the reservation time. Pass holders can only make one reservation at a time.

There are separate entrances for THE FLASH Pass, which either guide holders through the exit line to the loading station or cut into the regular line near the loading station. By placing a smartphone next to your wearable device, a Six Flags employee can confirm that it is time to ride and allow you to enter the bypass line. That’s it.

Up to six guests can use one device . It’s easy to cancel reservations. The device is water resistant, so feel free to let it get soaked on water rides. Speaking of water rides, some of the parks offer separate Flash Passes for use in their water parks.

Obtaining The Flash Pass

  • 1Be prepared for the cost of the Flash Pass. A Flash Pass is great for skipping lines, but it can be quite costly if you are going to Six Flags with a larger group. A Platinum Flash Pass would cost $896 for a family of four, and thats not including parking and food. The Flash Pass would definitely be worth it on busy days, but it might not be if you visit the park when its not peak season.XResearch source

  • You can go to the park and look at the screen that shows wait times to decide if the pass will be worth it.

    Six Flags Memberships And Passes

Six Flags offered a single membership option until January 2022. It was the same as having a season pass, but it never expires like a season pass. Your membership was active as long as you continued to pay for the pass and had to have it for at least 12 months.

The option to buy a Six Flags membership ended in January 2022, but the people with the membership could keep their benefits if they continued to pay for it on time.

They still offer annual memberships where you can pay by the month, but there are different tiers instead of just a single membership. There are three tiers for the annual memberships that offer different benefits, with the more expensive tiers offering more benefits.

To purchase a pass, you can pay a lump sum. Or, you can pay each month with a down payment when you first sign up.

How Much Does The Flash Pass Cost

Buying a Flash Pass is an extra expense that is added on top of your regular park admission. The cost of a Flash Pass is per person, with up to six people allowed per each pass. Prices vary by date. For example, costs for a Flash Pass at California’s Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in early August were $45 per person for a regular pass, $70 for Gold and $110 per person for Platinum. In September, the rates go down by $5 for each level. The Flash Pass covers 22 rides in the park.

At New York’s The Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom in Lake George, the park’s Go Fast Pass lets you go to the front of the line on 11 of the park’s most popular attractions for a flat fee of $55 per person. Instead of a Q-Bot, riders get a wristband that lets them head to the front of the line for unlimited rides. The park also has a seasonal Go Fast Pass for $200 per person.

Is The Cost Of The Flash Pass Worth It

Some Six Flags Parks, like Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in California, only offer Flash Passes during super-busy park times. Premium rides that are especially crowded like The Joker, Superman and Wonder Woman allow Flash Pass use only at the Gold and Platinum levels. If you’re planning a summer vacation, you can buy Flash Passes any day of the week. By mid-August, the park offers Flash Passes only on weekends, making it a better choice to save the extra dough and go during the week when the park is less crowded.

The Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom’s wristband can be well worth the extra $55 if the eleven rides that let you go to the front of the line are ones you want to ride again and again. If only one or two of these rides are on your “must ride” list, you’re better off arriving at the park 30 minutes before opening so you can be first in line for them.

You can buy a Flash Pass after you enter the park and take stock of how crowded the rides you want to go on are. Keep in mind that the queues will move slower if there are a lot of people using Flash Passes.

Six Flags Increased Ticket Prices For 2022 And Now Six Flags Discounts Are Harder To Find

During the summer of 2022, Six Flags announced during an earnings call that they would be raising their prices. They no longer want to be seen as a daycare for teenagers and they want to migrate away from attracting the Kmart, Walmart, and Target crowd and instead attract customers who will pay full price.

    What?

If you think this is discouraging, I am right there with you. Although a quick search for how much are Six Flags tickets for Magic Mountain in California shows that the online price of $65 is the same as it was last year, the price at the gate has gone up to $119 . We will have to wait and see what other changes Six Flags puts into place across the board, but you know well keep you updated as we hear.

Six Flags Gold Or Platinum Flash Pass

The Truth about the Flash Pass at Six Flags EVERYTHING you need to know!

We’re visiting Six Flags Magic Mountain on a Saturday in June 2013 and seeing as we’re travelling from Australia & will only have one day there we’ll be buying a Flash Pass. Can anyone please tell me what the difference is between the Gold & Platinum passes apart from being able to ride some rides twice? Is the wait time similar? We’re staying close to the park so can do the full 11 hours that day. Thanks you in advance!

Are you going june 1st? Platinums are currently sold out online ,I rung the guest relations at Magic Mountain and they said they will have more available sooner or later ,we are geting a season pass as we will be going to other 6 flags parks on the east coast later ,If you were going June 2nd or 3rd we could share cost ,

Although I think ours will be cheaper on the day as we have season passes so get a discount anyway

There are two of us ,im driving up from Knotts Hotel in Buena Park ,we are from Christchurch ,New Zealand

Also lucky you are staying close ,im not looking forward to driving in LA

OK, if you are planning to go to two or more Six Flags parks, get a Gold Pass at the first Six Flags park you visit. Comes with free admission and parking at all Six Flags, also a discount on the Flash Pass, so wait until you get to the park to get your Flash Pass.

Also, SFMM will be offering early entry to Gold Pass Members this summer.

Six Flags Gold And Platinum Flash Pass

    Six Flags Over Texas:

I’m about to go on this trip with my school and we’re planning to go to Fiesta Texas on a Saturday.I really wanna go on all the roller coasters so I’m planning to purchase a Gold or Platinum FLASH PASS.

First of all, whats the difference between the Gold and Platinum?

Second, When I went online, it asked what day and what time I’m planning to go. It only gave me one choice, which is 11:00AM, but my school is gonna arrive there around 12:00PM. Are they gonna cancel my reservation or is somebody gonna take my place? If so, would I get a full refund? Third, I’ve read some stuff about it and it says that once you get there, you gotta give the rental people your ID as collateral or something, but I don’t have an ID so would they let me pass if I’m just 14?

And last, I’m gonna be going on May 8th, do you think its gonna be crowded or not? I really don’t wanna waste $70 if its not even gonna be that crowded. If its not, then would you recommend getting the regular flash card? And last, can you explain to me what a q-bot is?

Sorry for asking too much questions. > .< Thank youu[:

    From Noah Meeteer

You don’t necessarily HAVE to reserve a Flash pass in advance. They have many there, and I doubt they’ll sell out. And if you did reserve one already, they’ll only give it away if they sell out.

I’m not sure about the ID thing. Whenever I get a flash pass, I always use my season pass ID.

    Hope I helped. 🙂
